Mea Culpa

Spain
Ooops. Just realized, I screwed up one of my clues. That was Juliet's line, not Romeo's.

Time to reread my Shakespeare, I guess.

Sorry about that.

Cate Blanchette is not androgynous, not even remotely. Even less so when you see her in person. I saw her on stage in Hedda Gabler and even covered up in 19th Century clothing, head to toe, she looked about as womanly as any woman I've ever seen. So sexy.

Tilda Swinton on the other hand...yeah, very androgynous.

I really like Cate Blanchett in LOTR. The scene where Frodo offers Galadriel the ring was pretty cool. She might work as Cersei.

Stage and screen
David Tenant has played Romeo on stage and was in Harry Potter. how about him as Littlefinger?

Though he is 6'1. Maybe Benjen Stark?

Re: Stage and screen
For those that really were hoping, Alan Rickman also played Romeo in the 1978 TV Series ""The Complete Dramatic Works of William Shakespeare""

Though I seriously doubt the clue is pointing to him. He's a busy guy.

Rickman is also way too old to play either Theon OR Jaime. FFS, he's over 60.

The fourth is the fifth
I know a lot of people want this to be a reference to the Fifth Element... but anyone think that it might just mean that the fourth and fifth clues are the same person? So the fourth person is the person Esquire thinks is hot. Meaning the person played by a puppet, the person that played Romeo, and the person that is too good to be true are not the person Esquire thought was hot.

Also, if anyone didn't notice, "Too good to be true" was what he was listening to during the first post. So that clue is in reference to one of the original 3 adult casts. Jamie, Theon, or the unknown female.

One last thing, strangely, the song by Frankie Valley is actually titled "Can't take my eyes off of you" not "Too good to be true"... not sure if that was a typo on his part, or on purpose.

Re: The fourth is the fifth
I also found a mention that Sean Bean played Romeo in a stage production of "Romeo and Juliet" in 1987. So the person that played Romeo would also have a tie to Sean Bean (Ned).

FYI: Alan Rickman didn't play Romeo in that BBC production of ROmeo and Juliet. He played Tybalt.

Hmmm.. bad IMDB info I guess. Also, I found an an actual song titled "Too good to be true" by Tom Petty, so he may be making a reference to that and not the Frankie Valley song as I originally thought.

Hmm, David Tennant had a casting in L.A. recently and he did play Romeo with the RSC, even if it's been some time. I doubt it though, so waiting for some confirmations :)

robb cast ?
Sparq at WiC has com up with an interesting list of peple playing romeo in theatre. One of them is Richard Madden: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0534635/

He is 23 years old, played Romeo in recent play and... and esquire thinks he is HOT:http://www.hotmen.ws/magazine-scans/young-brit-actors-esquire-magazine-most-are-favourites-on-here.html#more-1039

I believe he could possibly play Robb and not Theon(the sixth role cast and not part of initial GRRM clues), because I also believe that Alfie Allen will play Theon (Brother of Lilly Allen whose record GRRM is listening and was played by a puppet in her video).

I can't say anything about their acting abilities, but they both look their parts (especially Richard Madden for Robb).

Re: robb cast ?
A quote from Richard Madden in the esquire article: "...I'd like to play someone who's got a few problems, is a bit of a bastard, and that's just him. That's real."

Sounds more like Theon to me! :)

Re: robb cast ?
Yes, I read that interview too and immediatly thought the same thing, but I'm pretty sure Alfie got that part based on the clues, so Richard Madden couldn't be Theon. Besides, RM doesn't fit anywhere in GRRM first set of clues, where only the option of Theon is available and not Robb (as a possible sixth role).

David Wenham
Ok, I have no idea how he would fit into any of the hints other than having worked with Sean Bean before, but I would TOTALLY love to see David Wenham as Jaime. I think he would be perfect, and can totally pull off the love hate relationship (I know many probably didn't see Australia, but he was AMAZING in it, and truly easy to despise)

I know there would be problems because he was Faramir and Sean Bean was Boromir, but still, I think they are both good enough actors to make us forget about that (not that I want to, they were perfect in LOTR)

So ya, someone needs to find a way to twist the clues to make this come true :P

A knight to play a maester?
According to wiki:

Sir Ian McKellen portrayed Romeo in 1976 with The Royal Shakespeare Company, although at 36 he concluded that he was too old for the part. And he has something in common with Ned's actor(Lord of the Rings, duh.) And he's way too good to be true.

I'm sure he would be amazing in any roll... but I'm thinking Maester Luwin.

NPH?
I have decided that you can pretty much pick an actor and link him to the clues. For instance:

Neil Patrick Harris - 1) Played Romeo in a 1998 Old Globe Theater production of "Romeo and Juliet." 2) Was in a TV series called "Too good to be true." 3) Is a magician, and on the board of directors for The Magic Castle.

That's it - Neil Patrick Harris is Jamie... if only he wasn't busy with "How I met Your Mother."

Dream Cast

So me and a couple friends stayed up all night talking about our dream cast for this show. Funny enough, Sean Bean was my pick for Ned. The only unattainable we came up with was a time-warped Haley Joel Osment as Bran.
I'm sure everyone has similar thoughts on certain parts (Brad Pitt/Leo DeCaprio as Jamie, Cate Blanchett for Cersei, Dakota Fanning for Arya, Emma Watson for Sansa, that kid who played Draco Malfoy as Joffrey, etc.)
I just really want Jeremy Renner to be cast, he's such a great actor and he can be a real bad dude. He's my dream pick for Benjen, he even looks like Sean Bean.
Whenever I read the books, I always picture Khal Drogo as The Rock. And Sean William Scott as Bron. And David Thewlis as Varys.
Can we just get Gary Oldman in there somewhere? Best actor ever anyone?

Re: Dream Cast
Have to say, I'll be really annoyed if they put in lots of Hollywood actors into this. Would absolutely hate Decaprio as Jamie and i'd find The Rock just far too predictable! I'd want Saorise Ronan (Atonement and The Lovely Bones) as Dany. If they stuck to theatre based actors, especially RSC ones, that'd be great. A modern version of "I, Claudius". Patrick Stewart as Tywin, Mckellan as Selmy, and i'd love them to put Derek Jacobi in there someplace.
