One More

Seven kindoms, seven gods, and seven parts now cast that I can't tell you about.

Ser Seven is another terrific award winning actor. He will be going back to a place he's been before. This is a guy who once went to the wars with our Jaime, though it's a good thing that Jaime wasn't a kingslayer then, or all history might have been changed. And there are mountains in Westeros that he might know, though his character has never seen 'em.

More by week's end, maybe.

And the announcement? Don't ask me.

Oh your taunting. 8p
I have to say that I'm very much looking forward to this series; a number of my friends are fans of your books and we all agree that HBO could end up doing a really good job.

If who I heard was cast as Ned is correct I feel sorry for the guy; he never gets to live when playing a fantasy role, does he?

It makes up for all those years of surviving impossible odds as Richard Sharpe. :)

I can't even begin to estimate how much you're loving this :o)

To add one more piece of information, David and Dan popped up earlier today to say, "Another day, another knight."

The character must be Ser Jorah, Ser Waymar, or Ser Rodrik Cassel, one would suppose, with I'd say Waymar being the least likely.

One plus three guesses
Well, if it's Ser Jorah, I'm thinking Brendan Gleeson: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0322407/

If it's Weymar (or any young, healthy-looking man), probably Kevin McKidd: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0571727/.

Also might be Iain Glenn: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0322513/

Black horse is Marton Csokas: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0190744/

I wonder why HBO is delaying...perhaps there is someone big in the works for a lead that they want to finalize before they release the cast list. And Sean Bean was pretty big!
Aug. 19th, 2009 05:52 pm (UTC)
My only guess here is that, based on the statement about his character knowing something about mountains without having seen them, perhaps this is Aemon Targaryen that has been cast.
Aug. 19th, 2009 06:40 pm (UTC)
Re: hmmm...
The character is definitely a knight, which Aemon never was (unless the executive producers and GRRM are being obscure, re: maesters as 'knights of the mind').

Robert Baratheon? Ooh, exciting.
Aug. 19th, 2009 06:24 pm (UTC)
Actually, Mark Addy was named as playing Robert weeks ago. :)

I am now convinced that David Wenham is going to be Jaime, and that the war in question is 300, fills the Kingslayer bit nicely! Though as for Ser 7 no guesses, since 299 people went to war with him in that film! David Wenham was Faramir, and I think he could pull off the role nicely.
Aug. 19th, 2009 11:22 pm (UTC)
If David Wenham is Jaime then Ser Seven could feasibly be Viggo Mortensen, with the king reference. Seems verrrrry unlikely though! More likely in this hypothesis is Gerard Butler, King Leonidas in 300. no?

We over at Winter is Coming are guessing Iain Glen as Jorah Mormont, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jaime. Are we close?

Seriously Off-topic
I can't figure out your clues but I just realized this, George: Are you aware Cormac fucking McCarthy lives right near you, in Tesuque?

Again, CORMAC FUCKING MCCARTHY! How awesome is that?

Your assignment is to meet him and take some pictures, if you haven't already. Puuhllease? My two favorite authors of all time. In the same state...hmmm..

Wait, now that I think about, the eggs-in-one-basket scenario is flashing before mine eyes. RUN GEORGE.

Sir Rodrick
Was mabey Ser Rodrick Cassel casted. Or that balck brother in the prologue who ket killed by the other..? Sir I forget? Waymar!
Aug. 19th, 2009 06:35 pm (UTC)
Based on these clues, I have determined, with 100% certainty, that Jaime Lannister will be played by Henry Winkler of Happy Days fame.

No, I'm pretty sure I could not re-trace my path to that conclusion.

I wish HBO would let the news trickle out rather than tell us a ton of roles all at once. I know that's business, but what if I OD on awesome?
Aug. 19th, 2009 07:14 pm (UTC)
Sir, may I ask you, if you don`t mind, ofcourse.
We are waiting in our cold Russia your new The Song of Ice and Fire`s books. When it will be write?
Sorry for my English, I`m just learning.

And Hello Ser Jorah played by Iain Glen.
2 down 5 more to go!
Aug. 19th, 2009 07:24 pm (UTC)
My guess is Stannis!!
Aug. 19th, 2009 10:49 pm (UTC)
I think Kevin McKidd would make an amazing Stannis after his turn as Vorenus in Rome.

"Mountain" must mean Ser Gregor Clegane.

Leads me to think that it might refer to The Hound. XD I hope that is is-- he's one of my favourites.

Braveheart was filmed in Ireland... and has lots of mountains...
Aug. 20th, 2009 03:48 am (UTC)
That is what came to my mind as well. It would also have changed history if one of the characters had managed to kill the king, as it was historically-based. Several of the actors could fit parts in SOIAF. Many are Irish or Scottish and award winning. Not only would they know the mountains that are being filmed to play Westeros mountains, but they are likely to audition as casting is being done in Ireland. Several have done Shakespeare. Several have been in one of the Harry Potter movies as well.

Award-winning and in Braveheart:
Sean McGinley, Brian Cox, Patrick McGoohan, Alun Armstrong, Brendan Gleeson, Tommy Flanagan, Ian Bannen, David O'Hara, Gerard McSorley, and Peter Mullan.
Aug. 19th, 2009 10:25 pm (UTC)
Patrick Bergin? He starred with Glen in Mountains of the Moon.
