Arya and Sansa, Revisited

Here, as promised, are some larger pictures of Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner, who will be portraying Arya and Sansa Stark, respectively, in the HBO pilot.

MAISIE WILLIAMS


Maisie, I am informed, has some previous acting credits. Stage work, I gather, nothing in television or film. Until now. Sorry, I have no further details.

SOPHIE TURNER


Sophie is brand new, David and Dan tell me. Well, maybe some school plays. She read for us at her school. Don't confuse her with the DR. WHO Sophie Turner, please, or any of the other Sophie Turners that Google will turn up. (She should probably tweak her name to make it more distinctive. Maybe Sophie R.R. Turner. Worked for me)

Aw they're both adorable. Maisie has the spunky, tomboy cute and Sophie is so pretty. Good choices. :D

Aww, they are both so adorable and look great for the parts. Maisie has such an impish look to her that fits perfectly for Arya, and Sophie a gentle beauty, perfect for Sansa (my favorite character! <3). I am looking forward to watching them in action. You go girls!

Yay, there are two of us! Haha, I know there must be other people out there who love Sansa, but she certainly isn't very popular. It doesn't help that Arya is one of my least favorite major characters--talk about an unpopular opinion.

I always imagined Sansa with brown heair, but this girl is lovely. And Maisie has that sparkle of character that Arya has :D

They are absolutely perfect, both of them. I am very pleased with the decision (even before this was an honest-to-God TV-project, me and friends had been kidding around, casting-wise...and the children always remained total blanks as none of us could come up with a comparison. With the children, you'd really have to look "outside of The Mint". And I'm really, really looking forward to this. Probably the most excited I've been since the very first LotR-movie...honestly!!!

The photo of Maisie Williams is particularly good -- definitely something a bit mischievous there, it'll suit Arya. Sophie Turner is quite pretty, and it'll be interesting to see her transformation into the auburn-haired young maiden of Winterfell.

This will sound so superficial, but I hope they dye Sophie Turner's hair (or give her a wig). One of the things I really enjoy about Song of Ice and Fire is the diverse color palette: The golden Lannisters, the dark- or flame-haired Starks, silvery-maned Targaryens...

Okay, that sounded incredibly superficial and whatever, I'm excited regardless.

I can understand that, but I'm not sure if HBO will adhere to character descriptions to a T. Hollywood rarely does, and if they try to, they are rather inconsistent (i.e. Daniel Radcliffe's eyes are sometimes green and other times blue, despite the fact that Harry Potter having green eyes is important to the plot). Someone over at WiC blog compiled all the actors playing the Starks and Jon Snow side by side, going to the trouble of colorizing the non-black-and-white photos to the appropriate hair/eye color. Just seeing it laid out like that made me realize, 'Hey, they really do look like a family!'

That Arya is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. That grin is excellent, and she has the perfect blend of tomboy-ishness and femininity. If she can act (hey, you can't tell from a picture), she'll be fantastic.

Sophie looks the part of Sansa, but I was never a Sansa fan, so I'll keep me mouth shut. ::zips::

Can't wait to see this, hope it takes off!

While Maisie looks quite how I pictured Arya -and exhudes I am a tomboy!, I'll say that Sophie doesn't look at all like I imagined Sansa.
Though one of the key personality traits of Sansa is sweetness, and she seems to have that in spades!
