Arya and Sansa, Revisited

Here, as promised, are some larger pictures of Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner, who will be portraying Arya and Sansa Stark, respectively, in the HBO pilot.

MAISIE WILLIAMS

Maisie, I am informed, has some previous acting credits. Stage work, I gather, nothing in television or film. Until now. Sorry, I have no further details.

SOPHIE TURNER

Sophie is brand new, David and Dan tell me. Well, maybe some school plays. She read for us at her school. Don't confuse her with the DR. WHO Sophie Turner, please, or any of the other Sophie Turners that Google will turn up. (She should probably tweak her name to make it more distinctive. Maybe Sophie R.R. Turner. Worked for me)

This is necessarily a superficial judgement, but going strictly by looks, they both seem perfect. (I'm assuming Sophie Turner's hair will be dyed or she'll wear a wig.) And I agree with the person who said that they do look like sisters. I wonder how much of the Sansa/Arya relationship will make it to the screen.

I have a good feeling about both of them. As someone said, they even look a bit like sisters, even though that would not be necessarry since Sansa has Tully features and Arya is a typical Stark.

So far so good, casting-wise. If I can get over Alfie Allen as Theon (I might need therapy though).

They're both terrific, but Maisie, in particular, could not be more perfect, imo. At least in this photo, she captures the ambiguity of her age that allows Arya to pass as a boy while never not being, on closer inspection, a tomboyish girl. I know you think Bran will be the toughest to cast, and I can't disagree, but I think Arya runs a very close second, and the powers that be have come up aces here. It can be premiere night now, yes?

Maisie looks just how I imagined Arya to be. Very, very good, judging by the looks alone, of course. As for Sansa, well, not quite the way I imagined her, but there are good little actors out there who can pull off just about anything, so we just have to wait and see. ^^

Well, I could get a better idea of how they'll look in their roles if they were scowling or distraught, but it looks like they should be excellent. Great job to all involved in hiring them.

They look like they could be related (they seem to have the same chin!) It's not going to be a stretch to have Sophie show the "ladylike" girly-girl polish that Sansa strives for and Maisie show the spunky, scraped-knees and unruly haired tomboy that is Arya. Well done.

I can't wait. Also, thank you for the sneak peeks! It's been fun to see the casting unfold along the way!

Ooo I like the Arya chosen! She's what I imagined (basically a younger me, hahaha). And it looks like your Sansa will grow into a beautiful young woman, as she should. Lovely casting!

They're both lovely young ladies and I can't wait to see how they bring the characters to life. Arya's one of my top five characters -- Ms Williams looks much prettier than the Arya-in-my-head (courtesy your descriptions), but I'm sure she'll be brilliant. Ms Turner looks stunning, just like a perfect Sansa (except for the blonde hair which will obviously be dyed darker). They've got some incredible things in store for them as actors!
