Arya and Sansa, Revisited

Here, as promised, are some larger pictures of Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner, who will be portraying Arya and Sansa Stark, respectively, in the HBO pilot.

MAISIE WILLIAMS

Maisie, I am informed, has some previous acting credits. Stage work, I gather, nothing in television or film. Until now. Sorry, I have no further details.

SOPHIE TURNER

Sophie is brand new, David and Dan tell me. Well, maybe some school plays. She read for us at her school. Don't confuse her with the DR. WHO Sophie Turner, please, or any of the other Sophie Turners that Google will turn up. (She should probably tweak her name to make it more distinctive. Maybe Sophie R.R. Turner. Worked for me)

I'm rereading storm of swords right now and the cast has completely reworked it's look in my head to that of the cast of the show now.

Its almost sad to picture them as Arya and Sansa, knowing what we'll be getting to see them put through. I think they'll have better acting chops by the end of it than the kids who spent a decade acting on Harry Potter, at least.

Maisie couldn't be a better Arya. I can see her now.

Well, I recall Arya being called 'horsey face' (and the Starks generally being marked by long faces) or some such thing that Maisie will never have to deal with; but I'm pleased that these two pictures certainly make them look like siblings.
Sure seems like a fabulous cast so far!

I just hope they don't grow up too fast. :) HP was able to space the movies enough so the actors weren't too much older than their characters by the last few movies. Hopefully HBO will get season 1 into production ASAP.

A bit off topic but does HBO even realize how many people will be subscribing to their channel if they make this series? I know I'll be forking over the $15/month(or whatever it is) just to watch it. Not to mention the killing they'll make in DVD sales after each season.

you are absolutely correct about that! god knows how many fans who dont currently have HBO will surely be purchasing it when the time comes. as soon as we hear the YAY i'll be calling my provider ;)

I think Maisie looks perfect for Arya. Sophia just does not look like how I pictured Sansa, she is too blonde and while pretty, not beautiful as I imagine Sansa looks.

Respectful

i would like to be respectful and polite when mentioning this so it does make it through into your blog.

This television series seems to be getting a lot of you attention george. It seems to be #1 priority. I am just posting to share my worry that the Books will be left behind and not a major priority anymore if this TV series is Popular. All i would like is some reassurance that the books are going to continue and not be replace by the tv series.

i hope HBO has some good colorists lined up. it looks like there's going to be a lot of hair coloring going on for this cast.

I have to say, I don't think Mr. Martin or the boys and girls at HBO could have done a better job. I really don't. I've really felt good about each of the castings to this point (Mark Addy was a bit of a surprise as King Robert, though) but these two really just cement it. I mean, Ms. Turner is almost exactly what I see when I picture Sansa. That's uncanny.
