Dancing

Spain
Taking another whack at the Meereenese knot today. I'm going to try breaking two largish chapters into four smallish ones, changing the order of events somewhat, and weaving them all together. Maybe that will work a little better.

Can it really be September?? Ack. I can feel the heat of those flames...

Yes, it is. Michael Komarck, from our beautiful but ill-fated calendar.

(FWIW, I hope to have good news on the calendar front soon)

Good luck with it!

I won't pressure you, I completely understand that, sometimes, you just don't feel like writing.

We'll wait. :)

May the muses dance around your desk and channel inspiration through your fingertips.

I know it's not particularly clever but it must be said: yes it's September. Winter is coming. :)

Here we go, here we go!

It seems that this Meereneese knot will rock and be a mileage of ADWD.
I feel the premises are very high

Good luck with that Sir!
I am happy to hear this :)
Is it really hard to write, I know how you feel since I write myself (not good as you of course) so take your time and make the right decisions that you think are worth it.

Besides, I always love to read smaller chapters ;)

It is indeed September. But only barely! It just started, like, five minutes ago!

These little updates always make me feel cheerful.

I look forward with patient anticipation (can I do that?) to your next book. Well, I try to. Mostly I distract myself by bouncing in my chair waiting for the HBO pilot to air. Sidenote: do you have any intentions of being on-set when the filming is being done?

As for the painting: Wow, that's magnificent work. The Hound should be a lot bigger, though. (Unless that isn't Beric Dondarrion dueling the Hound, and I'm just low on coffee or something.)

Good luck! I think you're probably this world's only expert of Meereenese knots, so if anyone is going to solve it, it's you :)

I hear ya...
I've been writing a lot lately, due to a beautiful muse in my life. I find myself filled with poetry at the thought of her.

As to your knot unraveling, I'll raise a glass of wine to you when I have dinner tonight. I can't wait to have it in my hot little hands.

The Master of Voices
By the way, I hope Roy Dotrice is reading these blogs and planning his schedule accordingly. When it comes to reading out loud, he is simply THE MAN.

Glad to hear some juice is flowing again, even in rearranging or reediting chapters. That's where it all starts I suppose :) Like mishmarlayla, I am an aspiring writer too and your endurance in this series has been a great inspiration to me.

Whenever I start loosing interest in my (what i hope will be come a) novel, I just think to myself, "What would George do?" XD My head says George would take his time, not hurry and produce the best work that he can.

We're all cheering for you!

What would George do?

Watch football, spend time with his beloved, maybe drink some beers. THEN go up into the writer's garret refreshed, revived, and ready to let the voices fill his ears.

I think that's a great strategy :)

Dragon berzerk attack
Dear George,

Just listen to your heart and do whatever pleases you the most. You've already wrote the best fantasy saga known to human race, and even if you wake up tomorrow and say: THAT'S IT GOD DAMN! I'm sick of this ice and fire, I don't want to write no more! - that will be fine for me, because the thing is, no matter how much AsoIaF books you write, it won't be enough for us (readers). We will always be hungry for more.
So either you stop writing in one moment or either you kill every character in saga (hmm, do I hear Dragon berzerk attack?) thus ending the whole epic tale :D

Cheers!

Re: Dragon berzerk attack
True... I can't imagine the gaping hole in my life when I finish the last book. It will be like a dear friend has died.

I'll read them all again and again, of course, but nothing will beat the first time. Unless I can somehow find a way to wipe my memory of it so that I could start again with no memory of what happens. Now that would be sweet. :)

Thanks
I can imagine that it's not the most fun thing to give those updates, which makes me appreciate them all the more. Thanks very much for letting us know!

btw, the attention to detail in all of this artwork is awesome. Beric's eye socket, for example.

Good luck slashing that knot!

"Burn in Seven Hells"...love the art for that month (well all the months really). Finger's crossed for a 2010 one.
