Dance, Dance, Dance

Spain
Finished a Jon Snow chapter, and have just passed the 1100 page (manuscript pages, the page count in the final printed book will be different) mark on A DANCE WITH DRAGONS. That's counting only finished chapters in something close to final form. I have considerably more in partials, fragments, and roughs.

Even with just the finished portions, DANCE is now longer than A FEAST FOR CROWS and A GAME OF THRONES, and I'm closing in on A CLASH OF KINGS. I do hope I can wrap things up before I approach the 1521 page length of A STORM OF SWORDS.

Making a new run at the Meereenese knot, but maybe not tomorrow. I think I'll hang around at the Wall a bit longer, and maybe visit Winterfell.

Well done George. Sounds like you're really powering on. I'm keen to read DANCE, but would rather something you're satisfied with than a book in my hands tomorrow.

Seconded - take as long as you feel you need; it'll be a masterpiece, just like the earlier books in the series. :3

You write as many pages as you need to and I will be grateful for every single one.

Agreed!

Although I doubt I will appreciate so much that I will frame each one as that could cost a small fortune.

Thanks for the update, Mr. Martin. Knowing that there's always the slow march toward completion is great, knowing that when the book arrives it's going to be another massive read is awesome.

Also: I recommended your series to a co-worker to the point that she started bugging me daily for your name and the titles. Gave 'em to her yesterday, so you may have a new fan soon. *grin*

Was just reading a few snippets of A Clash of Kings on the ride home. So excited for Dance and know it will be so worth the wait. Thank you George, for sharing such a wonderful tale with all of us. You truly have enriched our lives.

Wow & Feast & Dance were once supposed to be one book. What was once one became two, what is now two is close to becoming three? Might give you more time to work on that knot, no?

Book updates are always appreciated. Thanks George. And good luck. I know I'll be getting cozy with my copy of Dance on release day.

Conventional wisdom about length does not apply to you. If you break 1521 pages and approve of what you have written, I am perfectly content to read it! As for the Meereenese knot, I am sure you shall finish it the next try! In fact, I'm calling it right now! Done in one! And you can never go wrong with more Jon!

No worries! The longer the better! I love a long tale! ...the book's
binding may not though... the worst part of a good book or series
is when it ends. *sniffle*

Please, feel free to make it as long as it needs to be. There is no rush to finish when curling up with one of your novels. The longer, the better. (:

Good luck on getting this monster done and thank you again for the suffering you have done to get it absolutely perfect for us readers. It has been a long and sometimes agonizing wait, but I am sure that all of that will melt away the second we crack the cover and dive into what I'm sure will be another masterpiece.

That just gets me giddy. What the hell is happening at Winterfell?!?! Don't worry- that's a rhetorical question for myself....

I love updates. They really do help pass the time. I'm like a fiend with this series. Write on, man!
Can't wait for the announcement!
