Adventures in 2010

Life is magical... but full of pain.

The Jets are in the playoffs. Who woulda thunk it, a couple of weeks ago? The game against the Bengals was certainly impressive. Can they do it again, though? We'll see.

The Giants didn't play. I don't know who those guys in their unis were, but they sure were inept.

Goodbye, Bill Sheridan. A good guy, by all reports, but a horrendous defensive coordinator.

I meant to post yesterday on the weekend's games, but got busy writing instead, and finished a Tyrion chapter that I've been struggling with for six months. Nibbling away at that knot. We'll see if the finished chapter holds up to reread and polish today.

*does happy dance* I hope it holds up too! Love Tyrion.

finished a Tyrion chapter that I've been struggling with for six months.

So there was a silver lining to the Giants loss.

Unless that Tyrion chapter is so good that I laugh, cry & pee my pants when I read it, it will not make up for the absolute beating my boys in blue took. :(

Congrats! Dying to read the next book, keep em coming!!

This is my favorite type of GRRM post...something about football and news that some part (even small part) of the book is moving towards completion.

Don't know who has been showing up in Giants uniforms for much of this year. Something just seems fishy there - it can't all be on Sheridan; they've got a lot of veteran players on that defense who are acting like they've never played the game before. What gives?!

Good luck with the Meerenese Knot - tricky little things, from what I understand.

Congrats on the Tyrion chapter!

The Giants looked worse than my Rams.

Well, at 1-15 at least we're guaranteed a boy named Suh.

Unless he holds out.

Or unless we take a sacrificial lamb---errr, I mean quarterback---instead.

I think its fair to say the Rams gave up on Kurt Warner a bit early. Oh for the Glory Days(I remember Roman Gabriel).

If Warner can get tossed aside for a clueless rookie than lead his team to a Super Bowl, surely the Starks can stage a comeback?

Grand Tournament of the Seven Kingdoms (aka SuperJoust) to be held in revamped Winterfell.

It was nice of the Colts and the Bengals to forfeit those last two game to the Jets.

I guess the steelers will have to be content watching the playoffs on the tube like the rest of us.

I'm a Minnesotan, though not particularly a sports fan. When I heard the scores on Sunday, I knew you were going to be disappointed.

I have more loyalty to an author whose books I love than I do to the sports team from the state I live in. All is right with the world.

I remember my bf going "if they win tonight, they can win.." then, a couple of hours later "hey, they're in the play offs! oO"

As for commenting, well it's like writing: you never know when it comes XD It's good to hear that you're finally happy about that chapter - and it's Tyrion, so I'm already curious! Ah, let's touch wood and pray that you can continue to wrap all the knots away ;)

That Giants game was DIRE.

I was going to give you a hard time for not posting (your LJ was my first stop to see if the Jets won and made it to the playoffs), but given the reason, I guess I can deal with the inconvenience of having to go over to CNNSI for the final score.

Good luck on your re-read.

The Giants' loss is our gain. Hooray for the Giant of Lannister! :)

Excellent comment!

Bye Bye Bill
If Bill Sheridan was a character in ASOIAF, he would be a clueless general, concocting complicated plans and fumbling over maps in his tent, oblivious to the fact that his army, who felt no connection to him, had already fled the field of battle.

Polish? I thought you were writing the book in English? :D

Looks like Spagnolo was a bigger loss than anyone anticipated. Go Cowboys!

Happy 2010!
Happy 2010 to you. Glad to see the Jets got in. I'm a Mizzou guy, so it's great to see the rest of the country starting to see the Brad Smith we came to love. Being from St. Louis, I want to say thanks for giving us Coach Spags. It was a rough start for sure, but I'm buying into his system, and I think if we can grab the big guy from Nebraska, our D-Line is going to be tough with the stepped-up play of Long. Defense wins championships so we have to start somewhere....anyone want to give us a quarterback and a few receivers? Glad the writing is going well, we're all looking forward to it. Best of luck in 2010!

Ooooooo, Tyrion! My favorite! Be nice to him, will you?

Huzzah for nibbles!

This past Sunday was a pretty awful day of football. So many blow-outs. Bah. I imagine many Colts fans are spitting nails, too.

Good luck to the Jets in the playoffs.

And good luck to Tyrion, wherever he is. ;)

Grats on the the chapter.

Those Jets... It'll take two more victories for me to believe.

Those Giants... I can understand the defense being lousy for all of the varied reasons. Sheridan's gone. But, what's up with the offense? Gilbride needs to go too. While he's called a few very good games, his offensive strategy and play calling is generally mediocre. Although the offensive line had problems holding water, the Giants have enough offensive weapons to be able to get into the "green zone" more often than not. Time for Tom and Jerry to sharpen the hatchet and burn all of the dead wood.

Oh, and as far the Mets go, can you say Flushing Bay?

...first it was 'congratulations', then that morphed into 'congrats', now, evidently it's turned into 'grats'...what's next? 'ts'? Perhaps 'gra'. or is that 'to'ol'? (that was 'too cool' abbreviated). Anyway, just an observation...;/
