Not Done Yet

Spain
But today was a good, productive day. Only problem is that the chapter I finished just now is going to require that I go back and rewrite one of the chapters I finished last week. Minor stuff, though. Shouldn't take more than a day. (Famous last words, I know).

I'm so happy to hear you're making good progress! I've been working on a story for a few years and every time I see that you've finished a chapter, I kick myself for getting nothing done and it gets me writing!
Keep up the good work!

Ditto! Though I'm still under 2 years on mine. I'm trying to avoid the "a few years" scenario.

Hooray! I loved the sample Dunk and Egg story, and it only raises my appetite for Westeros without bedding it back down.

Your productivity fills me with joy!

Seriously though, I'm in the camp who are prepared to wait for as long as it takes. It's great to hear that you're making progress - keep up the good work! :)

Go, George, Go!!

I've been rereading the Dunk and Egg stories in anticipation of the new one. Enjoyed the preview and can't wait to read the rest of the story!

Thank you! The updates are so appreciated, nearly as much as the fact that you are moving forward.

Glad to hear it! If you took two steps forward and one step back, that still works out to progress. Keep up the good work!

Good news - but here's one reader at least who is content to wait for the book to be done, and done right, on your schedule.

So excited. I check every day for your updates. Will you be selling any of those awesome shirts from your website? When ever ADWD is finished I want to pick up my book, supporting my favorite house

Don't rush the genius! You'll get there eventually (you better, at least. I'm pregnant and I hope to have a book to read from you before the kid is in school! Sorry, hormone tantrum. Ignore me and move on.) Keep up the good work!

I want to buy the book!
I had a ball of yarn that was all tangled. Every time I undid a knot, two more would get tangled up.
This may or may not have been exacerbated by the involvement of kittens.

How does one properly encourage a writer? "Go! Kick that manuscript's ass!"? I'm going to have to work on improving that.

Meanwhile, don't let the kittens overly complicate the process.

thanks for staying at it! The time it takes to make what you do happen is completely worth it. with AGoT looking so good for this year and your updates (really, roomies gather 'round the monitor for any update) i'm ready to burst to tears with joy as it is. Thank you again, friend. You've created some of my favorite characters of all time.

That's great to hear, man! I'm glad to see that you're in such a groove, and dare I say that cautious optimism is growing upon me with the frequency of your updates? I get the feeling you're nearly there!

I think its wonderful that you seem to be having a good time with all this. almost like the black cloud has parted. (the black cloud being - we the fans)

Perhaps the sunshine will come out and play for a spell. (the sunshine also being - we the fans)

Glad it's going well! At least you have chapters to go back and rewrite, I can't even get out of my first.

Whenever it's done, it's done. I'll be ready to read it whenever you feel it's ready. You're an excellent writer, and it will be an excellent book, and it should be done the way it's meant to be done.

Also, regarding the Dunk and Egg stories, anyone know if there are stand-alone prints of the first two or are the only sources the anthologies and the graphic novels? Reading the sample from the other day made me really interested--I want to see what Baelor and Aeris and the others were like! Also, I hope Gormy gets it good :)

Have fun writing! It's a blast when it's going well :)

"The Hedge Knight" is in my collection DREAMSONGS as well as the original Silverberg anthology LEGENDS.

"The Sworn Sword" is only in LEGENDS II.

Eventually I will collect the Dunk & Egg stories together and make a book (or two or three) out of them... but first I'll need to write and publish a bunch more of them.

Keep the chapters rolling! You must be quite ecstatic with the progress in the last month and half. I know I am. Hmm... I wonder if this chapter is a thread in the Meereenese Knot.

I vaguely remember GRRM stating that he would try to tackle the Meereeneese knot with a fresh POV, so I'm hoping that the chapter he recently completed (taking place in Slaver's Bay, which is in Meereen, if I'm not mistaken; if nothing else, it's close to it) allowed him to successfully wrap up the Knot.

All conjecture, of course. :)
