Wow! What a lineup. I don't often read anthologies, but I'm going to go out of my way for this one.

A story about Delaunay, iirc.
Mar. 31st, 2010 11:29 pm (UTC)
Yep. Delaunay and Prince Rolande. I think that it's while they're at the university in Tiberias together, but can't recall for sure.

Any idea if/when it'll be hitting the Antipodes?

audio books
Hi Mr Martin

I know this is off topic, but i wasn't sure where to ask it, so I thought I'd ask on your last blog.

I listen to the audio books of Ice and Fire a lot on the way to adn from work, and now they are starting to ware down. Just wondering if they are ever going to come out on CD? Since this day and age tape players are starting to become obsolete.

Thanks for writing such GREAT books.

Re: audio books
Im sorry. I just assumed every time I checked on Amazon all they had was Feast on CD, and that the other ones only showed as being on cassette. As much as I am excited the other 3 are on CD. Is there a chance they will come down in price? $150 is alot for one book. I imagine A Feast is lower because it was mass produced. Just wondering if the other 3 will be reproduced and come down in price. Sorry to be a bother, not even sure if you handle any of that. Thanks again for all you do.

Ooh! New reads!
Apr. 1st, 2010 03:20 am (UTC)
Lots of great authors in here. I don't usually do anthologies, but I'll have to make an exception!

As a busy father...
...yet an avid reader, much of my reading is done on an ad-hoc free time basis. For this reason, I love anthologies.

I love anthologies and I'm buying this one right away. I'm sure you will, but don't forget to let us know when you can preorder it!

If you're looking to pre-order it immediately

Thanks for the info!

This looks like a good lineup... but does that mean you don't have a story in this one? I was hoping we might finally see Dunk reunited with Tanselle - but maybe I shouldn't hope for that, since knowing you she'd probably be dead by the end of the story.
Apr. 1st, 2010 08:15 am (UTC)
Certainly looking forward to this, for the Carey story first and foremost, but Peter Beagle, Neil Gaiman, and Tanith Lee are definite favorites of ours.
Apr. 1st, 2010 09:54 am (UTC)
I've been a fan of Gaiman's for over 20 years, so I'd be picking this up for him alone. I'm not as familiar with some of the others as I'd like to be, for example I only know Marjorie M. Liu from some of her comic work, but I look forward to becoming more familiar with them come Winter.

Though I am a tad disappointed that there will be no story from you Mr. Martin. I can think of several backstories for Fire & Ice characters that might make for great reading. Cersei and Jaime. Renly and Loras. Ned and Catelyn. Maybe for the follow-up Anthology?

Wow looks to be a great collection, but when I seen Jaquelin Carey on there I was SOLD!!! Loved her Sundering series!
Apr. 2nd, 2010 04:41 am (UTC)
Okay, anyone who first associates Carey with the Sundering is totally hearted in my book. <3

Looks like it should be a great anthology.

Just curious, you stopped updating on the suvudu cage matches and all. Jaime has gone through the last round you wrote about and through another one to the quarter finals, I'm sure you knew all this, however any chance on another right up?
Apr. 1st, 2010 02:33 pm (UTC)
Stories by Jim Butcher and Neil Gaiman, in a book edited in part by George R. R. Martin?

...my life is now complete. Seriously. Someone once asked me if I could have dinner and talk shop with three authors, who would they be, and those were my answers. Awesome.
Apr. 1st, 2010 04:08 pm (UTC)
Ouuu, I'll have to put this on my Christmas wish list... or just buy
myself a gift... XD
Apr. 1st, 2010 07:06 pm (UTC)
Thanks for the heads-up on this! New Gaiman, Butcher, Gabaldon, Beagle and Lee all in one place ... very exciting.
Apr. 1st, 2010 07:28 pm (UTC)
hey lets not forget about Jaime in the cage match. He's currently losing by about 100 votes.
Apr. 1st, 2010 07:56 pm (UTC)
Jamie is going to lose if you don’t write a rebuttal!

Your man Jamie is starting lose ground on Suvudu now that Pat Rothfuss has posted his account of the battle. Let's not let our favorite one-handed knight lose! Come on, Kvothe is a manic depressed innkeeper! Jamie was smoking him until Rothfuss said his part. Get out there an vote people.

Jaime's final undoing
Who would have thought Jaime could be outdone by that?
I voted for Jaime, but I have to admit- Jaime would struggle for that win. Any chance for a Jaime VS Kvothe piece? The Jaime/Cthulu was quite a fan fave.

And another DANCE tease/update would be most welcome, too....

Looking forward to checking out your new anthology- Jacqueline Carey is awesome.

Re: Jaime's final undoing
Oh no, we can't have Jaime lose to that lute plinger.

I think your choice is better.
