Sunday Night Preview

The Sunday night preview ran just before the latest episode of BOARDWALK EMPIRE. If you missed it, it can now be viewed on HBO's GAME OF THRONES site:

And here's the same trailer, in its YouTube version:

And the G-Men won too. What a day...

I really can't express how absolutely fabulous everything is looking. You must be very proud! :D

Looks great! I am more than stoked on this whole thing.

I loved nearly everything I saw <3
This is going to be the best show ever! Congratulations!!!

I love it, but every time I see Sean Bean, I can't help but think "He can be Warden of the North and all, just don't let him have the ring!!!"
Nov. 29th, 2010 08:34 am (UTC)
Now that really is an awesome trailer. The first really full-on idea of how it's going to look.
Nov. 29th, 2010 08:34 am (UTC)
I don't think I have ever been this excited for a show ever.
Nov. 29th, 2010 09:12 am (UTC)
I happened to catch the Preview
And overall I have to agree, I was quite impressed.

My one quibble though, is that there were no adjectives used when the screen flashed on "Based on the Novels". Perhaps they don't need to go so far as something like "Based on some of the finest novels in modern literature" (though I do think that that phrasing has a nice ring to it), but to simply call them "Novels" and move on? I wish that they had done better on that point. Otherwise, it's indeed looking good.

can't waiiiiit!

Drogo!!!! Finally!!! ^_^
Nov. 29th, 2010 11:41 am (UTC)
The casting is ridiculously perfect.
Nov. 29th, 2010 12:48 pm (UTC)
I am getting so excited. Everything looks like what I imagined from the book so far! I can only imagine how excited you are as well!
Nov. 29th, 2010 01:02 pm (UTC)
Bloody Hell.

It´s getting better every second. Bran is so wonderful. And, well, everything, i just don´t know how to explain.

It´s a shame the fact that it´s just 10 chapters, i wonder if that´s enough to represent the book. I miss seeing some scenes with Petyr, varys, and all these characters we haven´t seen yet. But everything i´ve seen is really awesome.

just can´t wait!
Nov. 29th, 2010 06:36 pm (UTC)
That's roughly 80 pages per episode, give or take. That should be fine.
Nov. 30th, 2010 02:25 pm (UTC)
I really hope so! And I suspect that it will be, being HBO the people that is working in this, of course.

Nov. 29th, 2010 01:55 pm (UTC)
Sadly I think the Making Of site has blocked international traffic for the videos, I've never been able to get them to work with the most recent Adobe player on multiple computers and both IE and Forefox. =(

Sucks, considering I'm in Canada and.. we have HBO. I'll have to wait for the youtube upload, I guess!

Nov. 29th, 2010 06:21 pm (UTC)
I am in Canada as well, just go the US HBO site and you can watch the videos fine. That's what I do.
Nov. 29th, 2010 06:59 pm (UTC)
Works here, and I'm in Germany where there's no HBO.
Nov. 29th, 2010 01:55 pm (UTC)
I CAN NOT WAIT for this! OMG.
Nov. 29th, 2010 02:13 pm (UTC)
so excited about the series, everything is looking perfect!

well, the only thing which is disapointing me is the look of Jon Snow in all photos and videos. He's definitely one of my favourite charakters and like for many others one I can identify with in the books.
But in my mind he's a completely different character as the one I see on the Photos. I don't like his sadish look, Jon Snow was never sad-looking in the books, only stern. And I don't like his hair and his beard and his nose and his overall attitude and...
Sad, but I guess you can't expect to get every aspect exactly like you imagined...

everything but jon
i agree with oteckre on jon snow - he reminds me a bit of a latino from the looks (hair, beard) - not at all like his father...

but compliments on the rest of the casting and on the general atmosphere of the teaser! can't wait to see the real thing :)
Nov. 29th, 2010 02:55 pm (UTC)
looks great
and more intimate than i'd considered before. lord of the rings was this great, sweeping epic, and it got some small moments down, but thrones looks like it really will nail down the character scenes with proper scale and respect.

can't wait for next sunday.
Nov. 29th, 2010 03:28 pm (UTC)
Saw it! Got chills. And yeah--Giants AND Jets...a good day.
Nov. 29th, 2010 03:53 pm (UTC)
It may sound hackneyed, but this teaser just sent a shiver down my spine ...
Nov. 29th, 2010 03:57 pm (UTC)
I truly am speechless...this is so exciting! I am not ashamed to admit that I got teary-eyed when I saw this! It looks and sounds so wonderful!?!?!? "Fear...is for the winter..." how awesome is that!

The last time anything had an impact like this on me was when I saw the teasers for "The Lord Of The Rings" trilogy...of course having Sean Bean in the HBO preview brings up loads of good memories!

Nov. 29th, 2010 04:07 pm (UTC)
Any chance this could be cross posted to YouTube (or similar). I suspect it can't be viewed in Canada :( (I've had this issue before)
Nov. 29th, 2010 07:14 pm (UTC)
Re: Canada?

Get it before they take it down...
Nov. 29th, 2010 04:11 pm (UTC)
It was great. I'm glad Bean doesn't seem to be resurrecting Boromir in his Ned, Tyrion looks amazing, and that was my first peek at Joff! :) Also, that was the first scene where Jaime looked appropriately hot. I'm not sure why Dany doesn't have purple eyes but I'll let that one slide for now.
Nov. 29th, 2010 06:39 pm (UTC)
My bigger problem with Dany is that they didn't dye her eyebrows, so she just looks like she has a bad dye job on her hair. Otherwise, I love the wide-eyed look of innocence on her face in the clips we've seen.
Nov. 29th, 2010 04:19 pm (UTC)
Una pasada !!!

Increible, impresionante, alucinante !!! Todo lo que se puede decir es poco....

Incredible, awesome !!! Winter is coming, yeah, but why not Spring is coming? ;-D
Nov. 30th, 2010 09:54 pm (UTC)
Re: Una pasada !!!
Can anyone tell me who actually made the arms and armor for this series? They are beautiful from what I can see so far
Nov. 29th, 2010 04:22 pm (UTC)
It's a huge accomplishment to have written books so beautifully detailed that a screen version can perfectly embody our mental images. Thank you for giving the world your work!
Also...I'm overjoyed that those of us outside of the U.S. can watch the short HBO videos!
Nov. 29th, 2010 05:38 pm (UTC)
Not to be a total scrub, but who's the fellow whipping out his sword at 27 seconds in?
Nov. 29th, 2010 06:51 pm (UTC)
This looks like it's going to be absolutely amazing, and I can't wait to see it :)

Any word on if iTunes will carry the show? I travel far too much to catch it on traditional media unfortunately.
Nov. 29th, 2010 08:27 pm (UTC)
At present, I'm not aware of any service that allows you to purchase or rent individual HBO episodes as they're airing. Once they release a season of something on DVD, they'll usually release them for download on Amazon VOD, Playstation Store, iTunes, etc..., but, of course, that's nearly a year later.

It is somewhat frustrating. I love HBO and consider it to have the highest quality shows on television, but the fact of the matter is that my wife and I just don't watch any TV other than HBO, and so we recently decided to cancel Comcast all-together. Once Game of Thrones comes out, we'll re-subscribe for 10 weeks (or however long the season lasts), but we'll probably cancel it again immediately afterwards.
Dec. 1st, 2010 12:46 am (UTC)
I'm going to subscribe to cable and HBO just for this.
Nov. 29th, 2010 07:03 pm (UTC)
Awww, little Bran having to witness that...

I can't wait to see what is in store for the rest of the characters
in your book(s) to come. I'll need to read them all over again
before I get into any new ones though, but I can hardly complain
about that! XD OMG I have to reread the most awesome books ever! hehe.
Nov. 29th, 2010 08:30 pm (UTC)
Trailer - awesome!
I am so stoked about this series!

That being said, I'm a natural t-totaler, and a purist when it comes to book/film adaptations, so I do have one question. Since the direwolves were found almost buried in the snow after the execution depicted in the trailer, how come the trailer shows a chilly autumn day with no snow on the ground, and not winter?
Nov. 29th, 2010 08:43 pm (UTC)
It looks awesome! I want to cry from happiness

Re: A note at the end says they're (HBO)
Yep, 8:45, a 15 minute promo with a 10 minute piece focused solely on GoT. It's "the big one", as I've been told. HBO is starting to kick the marketing into high gear.
Dec. 1st, 2010 07:16 pm (UTC)
Ned seems too tough. The whole "I was trained to kill," doesn't seem like him.
Dec. 1st, 2010 09:26 pm (UTC)
A Hit
Ahhhhhhh YES! Goosebumps! A sign!....This will be a collosal success.
Dec. 2nd, 2010 10:56 pm (UTC)
Real. Boss.

I hate to complain, but isn't Tyrion supposed to be really ugly? Peter Dinklage has been great in everything he's done, but I would have thought him too good looking to play Tyrion.

Uh but wasn't Eddard Stark clean shaven in the first book? And blue eyed? I imagined him very differently in the opening scene that has him looking out the bedroom window while Cat is lying in bed. Sorry i't been so long since I read the first one (translated horribly to Bulgarian no less, although I now read them in English).

Re: Ned
Clean shaven? No. Blue-eyed? No.

Re: Ned
Thank you for replying George, now I suppose it's pointless to say I'm a huge fan If i messed up on Ned's appearance :) I have to re-read the series! By the way, if your editor/publisher in the US wants to give Bard (the publisher for your works here in Bulgaria) a call and ask them to hire a better translator that would be great.

One does not translate dragonfly literally! (one of the characters had one painted on his shield. In the Bulgarian translation it said he had a dragon fly on his shield (we have a separate word for the actual insect which translates to water horse).

I've come across other examples of poor translation, and I'm sure others have as well.

John Hodgman touches briefly on the show and then spends a LOT of time talking about you here:
