Coming to LA II

Plans for my January visit to LA continue to come together.

The signing has now been set. I will be autographing books at VROMAN'S, an independent bookstore in Pasadena, on Sunday, January 9, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

(The event is not yet listed on their website, but I assume it will be up soon. My thanks to them for putting this together on such short notice. Usually signings like this are set up months in advance)

Given the limited time window we have for this event, I may not be speaking or answering questions, as I usually do at bookstore appearances. It all depends on how many people turn up. If the crowd is large, I may need to start scribbling right away to make certain that everyone gets a book signed. I don't like anyone to go away disappointed... but my schedule is such that I will probably need to be out of there at 7:00 pm, hell or high water.

Looking forward to meeting some of you there. (However briefly)

You can bring as many books as you like, but if the crowd is large I may not be able to sign all of them. All depends on how long the line is.

I don't know Vroman's policies as regards bringing in old books. Most stores allow it. It is usually considered good form to buy at least one new book from the store hosting the event, however. These things require a lot of time and trouble. If you have all the Ice & Fire books, you could always pick up one of my many other titles -- a Wild Cards book, SONGS OF LOVE AND DEATH, SONGS OF THE DYING EARTH, FEVRE DREAM, whatever.

other books
Hey George,

I haven't read any of the books you suggested (you have written them as well? you machine!). If they are as good as ASOIAF I will definitely buy them in store!

See you there!

Re: other books
I've read everything he's written, except Wildcard and a couple short stories I haven't been able to find. There are a shocking number of masterpieces in the bunch, some even better (IMO) than ASoIaF.

Dreamsongs (his collection) is a great place to start if you're beginning your trek through his back catalog.
