Zombies in Space

For all you space opera fans out there, my occasionally loyal assistant Ty Franck and my sometime collaborator Daniel Abraham have a kickass book coming out from Orbit this year. It's called LEVIATHAN WAKES (not to be confused with Daniel's short story collection LEVIATHAN WEPT), and it's the first of a trilogy.

You can see Daniel and Ty talking about it on the Orbit website at

http://www.youtube.com/orbitbooks#p/a/u/2/Yu0xJpCy95o

(Ty is the funny looking one).

Anyway, it's the best damn book about vomit zombies that you're ever likely to read. And Ty and Daniel are already halfway done with the second book, which they write on Ty's day off. I have warned him that if they finish that before I finish DANCE, I'll have to kill them.

Kill them & eat them, not necessarily in that order.

Sorry, have you seen Japan animation series "Moonlight Mile"? It was rumours, that US bought rights on this series after first season was created.
Actually - this series shows near possible future where humanity try to reach space in our culture relations.
Actually. I think, that R.A.Heinlein would like it.
Once again sorry to bother you

Killing Ty
Well, there's only one way to prevent the death of poor Ty.

You know of what I speak. Take Kong down!

Thanks for sharing the link, George. And that's just part 1 of 3. Great discussion of the book and the process of writing it. Looking forward to its publication; outside of Iain M. Banks, I read very little space-based SF these days.

And in similar news, looks like Orbit also got Dan to record some video related to his forthcoming epic fantasy, The Dagger and the Coin. This one's definitely one of my most anticipated SF/F novels of the year.

Very cool!
I'll be sure to check it out - my husband and good friend are big zombie fans; I'll make sure to let them borrow it. :)

Isn't the vomit sci-fi genre getting a bit saturated?

Paying attention to Orbit
Once I realized they are Abercrombie's publisher. I'll certainly check it out.

Can you be more specific? ;)

"my occasionally loyal assistant Ty Franck"
occasionally assistant or occasionally loyal?
Cheers!

Re: "my occasionally loyal assistant Ty Franck"
Occasionally loyal.

George often bemoans that I give him a harder time than anyone else about most everything.

He keeps me around because he knows the only thing more annoying than my constant impertinence would be a cloying sycophant.

wouldn't having one of those around boost the ego though? Maybe...

Actually looks pretty good, and I've been looking for another book to read.

Maybe Ty knows if there's an excerpt chapter or two kicking around? I'd love to take a look.

Sample Chapters
Not yet, but it's possible Orbit will post some sample chapters as we get closer to the June release date.

If such a thing happens, we'll post about it at www.the-expanse.com to let everyone know.

Okay, so then which one is Ty!?
So you said Ty was the funny looking one ... so ... is he the funny looking one with the long hair or the funny looking one with the short hair?

Re: Okay, so then which one is Ty!?
I think the one with the short hair looks rather dashing, in an insouciant, rakish way. Yes, quite a handsome man. Pity about that roll of fat under his chin.

Re: Okay, so then which one is Ty!?
And Ty is the one that, because of forced perspective, looks like a tiny doll man sitting next to Daniel. It's like being a hobbit in the LOTR movies.

In actuality, Daniel and I are the same height.

I hope they finish off the trilogy fast. It seems pretty good but I have decided not to read those series which are not completed. ASOIF is the only exception that I have made to this policy.

George I know this is about Daniel and Ty, but kudos to you for being a positive force in their lives and the lives of up and coming writers.

As a not so avid reader it's good to know the vineyard is well tended and the barrels remain full for whenever I have the yen.

I can wait
Keep up the great work, don't let the brats who can't wait bother you.
I know the book with be worth the wait. I'm a huge fan, my father used to read me The Ice Dragon as a bed time story.

Thank you for ALL you work.

Yeah George thanks for your work man, I know when it comes to football I busted on you a bit, but you're truly the most talented author of this fantasy generation......Keep it up, finish the series in your time and have fun with life in the meantime!

Random question
I have a random question. I do not know where else to ask or find info. But I don't have HBO and I don't really want to pay my cable provider for it. Is there a way I can watch just single episodes of GOT without buying the whole HBO package? For example, will it be on Hulu or Amazon's Video On Demand? I'd appreciate any information any one can give me. Thanks!

Re: Random question
I don't know anything about Hulu or Amazon On Demand.

But no, so far as I know, you need to buy HBO to get HBO shows. That, or wait for the DVDs.

Re: Random question
I hate to contradict the man himself, but HBO does their digital distribution through iTunes and Amazon. As far as I know, all of their shows go up on there. However, unlike other networks, they don't post them until the DVD set has been released, so anyone wanting to download them will still have to wait for the DVD release.

HBO
That's what I was afraid of. I live with my evil mother-in-law at the moment, (cliche, but true) so it's her call as to whether or not we get HBO. Looks like I might have to find some friends with HBO and mooch off them. I really, really don't want to have to wait until the DVDs come out. I'm too excited!
