Winter Is Almost Here

The fifteen-minute (actually only a bit over fourteen minutes) preview of GAME OF THRONES debuted on HBO tonight, just before the third part of their big miniseries MILDRED PIERCE.

Many of you saw it, I know. For those who don't have cable or satellite or whatever, the good folks at HBO have been kind enough to post the preview on their website to make it available to all (well, many). This is NOT a trailer or an assembly of clips, but rather the first quarter of the first episode.

So without further ado:

Hope you liked that.

The series premieres on April 17. To see the rest, you WILL need HBO.

Need more now!

I was impressed with the audio. As an audio freak it's pretty rare to have a tv show that takes advantage of my sound system. I know it was only 15 minutes but I hope the bang in my sub will continue.

I love it, but one niggle I might have is that the execution scene wasn't in the snow. I loved the vivid descriptions in the book!

It was Awesome!................my God, I cannot wait to see how HBO show us the rest...I mean, that Wall of Ice!....perfect!....I just don't know how the story will be shown with all of the details!....I kneel down to you...Sir George...R.R. Martin.

Um yeah...
Waaaay beyond expectations. Production value is off the charts. I actually got goosebumps.

Hell yeah. Congratulations George, I think this is going to be the series that gives credibility to television fantasy.

Simply incredible. And it wrenches my heart thinking of the story to come.
Apr. 4th, 2011 04:44 am (UTC)
That was the fastest 15 minutes I have seen in a long time! Really looking forward to the show.

Government Warning
The U.S. Government would like to warn you that watching the above video will make you drive to you cable outlet and order H.B.O. immediately.Kidding aside. That was F##^&ng awesome. The scenes with the Walkers are chilling and the chemistry amongst the Stark family is exactly right.Well casted H.B.O. and Mr. Martin.I've never had H.B.O. before but I,m signing up now.Splendid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Loved the preview. I like how they introduce Arya without a single bit of dialogue from her.

George, do you plan on giving your thoughts on each episode on this blog? I thought Elio's reaction to the first six episodes were very interesting.
Apr. 4th, 2011 04:54 am (UTC)
It took me about 45 minutes to watch it, just because of my internet connection, but it was well worth it. I can't wait to see the whole episode.

I am obsessed with the books more than most and have been talking this show up to everyone I know for 3 years. However, now I am a little concerned that it is going to be too bloody for the masses. Do you really need that much blood spurting in the first 15 minutes?

That is what happens when you lose your head! Winter is coming and it is totally real and gross!

Winter Is Almost Here
And me longing for July....you know, now that I think of it, the HBO take on peeks, previews, (lots and lots), and all such is looking better and better...wouldn´t mind seeing some of that elsewhere....
Apr. 4th, 2011 05:20 am (UTC)
That was lovely. Reminded me how much I enjoyed the books and await seeing them played out!!!
Apr. 4th, 2011 05:27 am (UTC)
I've watched it twice now and it was great. Two weeks is too long to wait. This series, which I hold dear, is finally coming to screen and not in a slipshod fashion.

I died somewhere, 'cause it was that awesome. I remember clearly that I had been scared reading that prologue, and felt that again XD
Apr. 4th, 2011 05:34 am (UTC)
The Wall of Ice was right out of my imagination. Everything looks absolutely perfect. I knew HBO would do it right or not at all. Congratulations George.
Apr. 4th, 2011 05:38 am (UTC)
It was great! The audio editing, in particular, stood out to me. When Arya is doing her needlework and she tunes out the sounds near her and only hears the laughing and the bows outside... brilliant!
Apr. 4th, 2011 05:44 am (UTC)
Amazing work. As I am currently listening to the first book on audio, I must say what I've seen captures the book very well. Can't wait to have it available in Finland!
