Tonight's the Night!

Winter is coming to HBO... tonight!

I think we can be pretty sure GAME OF THRONES will be better than SPRINGTIME FOR HITLER, at least. Fortunately, this show comes from Benioff and Weiss, not Bialystock and Bloom.

We're pretty excited here. (Even though I've already seen tonight's episode).

And remember -- HBO is free this weekend on most cable systems throughout the US. So even if you don't normally get HBO, if you have cable the chances are excellent that you can at least see tonight's premiere.

(After which, of course, we hope you'll all be signing up for HBO).

More a little later. I have to get back to Kong.

I was only introduced to your books last month and I am so sorry I missed out on them before this. They are so well written, always keep you guessing and are very hard to put down. They have made me late coming back from lunch more then a few times. *grin*

This is probably the first time since I've started working that I am eager and anxious for it to be Sunday night! :)

I don't seem to have HBO free this weekend. Odd. :\ Though there is like a dozen differnet HBO channels to pick from.

Congratulations in advance
I am very much looking forward to seeing your story come to life tonight. I have no doubt that it will be a breathtaking experience. George, I look forward to "hearing you roar".

Congrats on the series, Mr. Martin. I've never been so excited about a TV series and a long (albeit not as long as yours) wait has finally come to an end. Been chewin' fingernails these past months and finally the show's here!
I read somewhere the good people at HBO are considering Iceland as a possible location for the next season. Maybe a bit premature but I came across this video which should get you excited about some Winterfell-and-thereabouts scenes. It would be SO cool if you guys shot some Ice and Fire here later on: http://vimeo.com/19320410

Congratulations again to you and yours, Mr. Martin!

P.s. Screw those guys at The NY Times, your book series literally brought me and my girlfriend together!

It was very impressive and did the book proud. Can't wait for next week!

Greetings from the Wee Paws of Westeros cats!
We deal with lots of sadness and frustration at our no-kill animal sanctuary, so any enjoyable diversion is welcomed. I can't tell you how much we loved immersing ourselves in your ASOIAF series, and how much we look forward to the TV series as well. As a small tribute to your novels, we've named a few of our recent rescue cats after characters they remind us of. We've got heavy-weight "Samwell Tarly" (who wears the black... fur); pretty little black kitten Asha; crazy/chatty old feral cat Walder Frey; cranky feral cat Rast; and a very sweet young feral male who we've named "Nommy Greenhands". We're hoping that naming a cat after Walder Frey will put us in the running for the inheritance. I'm sure there will be more tribute kitties to come... it's hard to imagine not having a "Cersei", although I'm not sure I'm looking forward to living with her.

Apparently Xray was wise enough to go and order HBO for us last week, so we can watch from the comfort of our apartment. Enjoyed the first episode.

Congrats, George. Looks like the retelling of your story is in good hands.

GRRM -- the show was AWESOME. Absolutely awesome. I can't wait for next week's. And the week after that. And the week after that. And I already know what happens!

That was so good!

i loved it!!!!
Seriously, I loved it! Most of the characters were exactly how I pictured them and I adore that Sean Bean is playing Ned Stark! I can't wait for the rest of the episodes and I definitely can't wait for ADWD to come out! Yay!

It was really good! I'm just so pleased for you!

Mr. Martin, the show was fantastic! Thanks so much for allowing HBO to bring this series to life on screen!

A great start to what I know will be an excellent series! I was excited when I heard HBO was taking up the project, and the outcome was far from disappointing. No other network could have done your books justice.

Suggest you forward-date your next post (i.e. "no comments for fear of spoilers") so people always see it.

opening night
Hmm, we haven't spoken in many years...going all the way back to Romulus and Remus days...Anyway....Best of luck with the series...I thought the opening scene of the WALL was grand and fitting for the HBO viewers and those new to your vision.

Take Care,
