In the Apple

A busy week. So much to report, so little time.

I am spending a lt of my time over at Bantam, working with my editor Anne Groell on copyediting and proofing A DANCE WITH DRAGONS to get all the ducks in a row for the July 12 pubdate. A lot of work in a short time frame, but it's going well. Sill have the appendix to nail down, which becomes first priority when I return home May 5.

Watching some of the NFL draft in spare moments, but I've been in such a crunch this year I did not do any of my usual prep, so I have no idea who most of these players are. The Jets and Giants have picked some people. Hope they're good. The Giants got a prince, I see. Not the one who just got married.

Visited the HBO Store yesterday. Incredibly cool, and the people running it were terrific. I signed all the copies of my book on hand, so if there are any New Yorkers reading this who would like an autographed copy, head over to HBO post haste.

All four volumes of the series are now on the NEW YORK TIMES bestseller list. I've got a lot to celebrate and I've been doing a lot of celebrating.

Oh, and of course, there was the TIME 100 Gala, where Phipps and I dressed up like grown-ups and hung out with some amazing people. More on that when we get home.

I am really happy for you. It's like all that work from your whole life FINALLY paid off and you're all famous like you should be. ;) Awesome. Every friend I have is reading one of my various copies of the series, I have none left for myself at the moment!

Re: Book making.
Interesting! Thanks for pointing to that. I wonder how much it has changed in present processes.

I also wonder if any of those "girls" ever got their child arms caught in those unprotected machine arms. One of them looked suspiciously like a "boy." The times they are a' changin'.

And there was much rejoicing!

Player currently known as Prince
Nakamura is excellent. Not really a need position, but the Giants should be very happy with him.

What an honor to be reading the livejournal of one of the world's top 100, haha! Managed to find a copy of Time here in Tokyo and showed off how my favorite author was being recognized. I've even managed to get most of friends over here to read your works, so there were many a sake glass raised in your honor.
Glad you're having a great time, and can't wait for the new book!

I am so happy for all the good things coming Your way! You really have big reasons to celebrate, and all of Your fans too! Congratulations on the books getting to the bestseller list, if there are books that deserve it, then it is those four :)

Small Question...
I know you are the editors and proofreaders are going to be crazy busy for the next couple months... but I was wondering... if we could get another sample chapter from the book. Something to keep us sane while we wait this one little bit left. Congratulations again, btw. Can't wait for July 12.

Prince Amukamara is one of the steals of the draft. Giants got one of the best corners in college football. You'll really like him. And he really is African royalty.

All the Best.
George your books are exploding in popularity. I have no more loaner copies of Thrones to lend, but so much buzz, thanks to HBO. Dance is going to be a monster. I'm so glad I am on vacation the week of the 12th. I hope you continue to enjoy commercial success for all the times you've entertained us over the years.

Book Tour?
Congratulations on finishing the book!!! I know its a little early to have this planned as of yet, but hearing you speak and getting my copy of feast signed in Calgary was one of the highlights of my life. Hope you are able to make it back to Alberta this time around. My wife and I will be the first ones in line.

The Draft
Firstly, congrats on finishing off Kong. Somewhere, on the pinnacle of that great tower that is scraping heaven, Fay Wray breathed a sigh of relief.

The draft. I'm like you, George - I only know a few of the "name" guys and am somewhat clueless beyond the 2nd round. Still, I agree with a few of your other commentors - Prince Amukamara is probably going to be a great help to the Giants. Not to mention that his royal kin from Nigeria certainly spiced up the draft at Radio City with their hyper-vibrant, native Nigerian garb.

I am a Dolphins fan, but something that you, I, and any Bills fans can grit our teeth about is what the Patriots did. I have a nasty feeling that The Hoody will refine Ryan Mallett, who will be ready to step in an possibly dominate when Brady's star starts to fade in 3 or 4 years. Ugh.
