Just what is that continent north of Essos supposed to be? Some filler Elastic put into the map, or is it a never-before-mentioned fourth continent now revealed?
That's what we thought based on your long-ago comment that Ibben was quite small (about the size of Iceland, I believe?). However, the concept art that Elastic have revealed shows a fairly substantial-looking landmass north of Essos and east of northern Westeros. I put it down to it being a doodle by the artists (and it's not on the actual map in the title squence).
It'll be interesting to see Season 2, when the camera has to move from Westeros all the way down to Qarth :-)
Are we sure that those 3 continents aren't all the same continent? I've never gotten a strong feel for the world geography from the books. I just see Westeros as a gigantic Britain to Essos' Eurasia, which is probably completely wrong.
