Signed Goodies for Joplin

passport
The good folks at Metagames Unlimited are raising funds for the relief of the people of Joplin, Missouri, whose town was recently devastated by tornados.

I've donated some autographed goodies to the cause. The first of those items are now up on ebay, along with other cool donations, including some autographed items from Neil Gaiman.

Check out the offerings at:

http://stores.ebay.com/metagames

And bid early and often. It's for a good cause.

Thanks!
My family lives in Joplin, and thankfully escaped the devastation with only minor damage. But we have several friends who have lost everything and I know they appreciate anything and everything people are doing.

Joplin is chock full of good hard working people, like most of the country. I hurt for them every time someone mentions that day. We were glued to every form of media we could find to check up on family and friends. My parents live in NJ now and it had the same tense "where is everyone we know? are they safe?" moment 9-11 had. I'm sure it was shared with families everywhere.

Thank you for everyone who contributed and to everyone who will bid. I wish I could hug each and everyone of you for your generosity.

I cant tell you how much we appreciate all the help everyone has given us here in Joplin. It has been tough but it is so nice to see all these helping hands. An even bigger bonus is to see my favorite author willing to help!
Thank you so much. Debe Joplin, mo

Though I moved to Seattle two years ago, I'm an Ozarks native, and I can't express enough how awesome I think you are for doing this. In all my life dealing with tornadoes I've never seen one as devastating as the one that hit Joplin.

You're a good man.

Sincere comment from a longtime fan
Hello,

Mr. Martin I started reading the Game of Thrones series before it was the world-wide sensation it is today. I love the series. It is definatetly one of my favorites.

One of the things that I really appreaciated about it was that even though it was very dark, "realistic", violent and tragic at time, it was almost never vulgar or pornographic (as is describing sexual acts).

When I heard that Game of Thrones was going to be made into a TV Series I was super excited. When I heard HBO was doing it I got kind of worried, and now I know my worries were well-founded. The show has a lot of nudity and sex. So much so that I cannot reccommend it to friends and family that I know that would otherwise truly enjoy the show and your novels.

What I was wondering was if there is some way at all to watch the show without the nudity and editing out the sex scenes?

Best,
Silvio

Well, you can TIVO the episodes and fast forward through the naughty bits, the way I do with commercials on the network channels.

But no, we won't be releasing bowdlerized versions.

Wanted to thank you and Parris again for your generous donations to the ConQuesT benefit auction. Thanks in large part to your help, we raised over $4,000 for Joplin relief.

Thank you, Mr. Martin. I'm from the Joplin area but currently live in Asia and am unable to get back to do anything until I have some time off. This is a good way for me to feel a bit more connected.

One more thought on the last episode - it's a pity, that you can't write the whole script...:) See you soon in Poland:D
