A long day of travel yesterday, but we're in Poznan now, on the third stop of my Polish tour. Big booksigning tonight. Tunrout may rival Warsaw.
Ty is almost himself again, though seriously sleep deprived. He slept all the way from Nidzica to Poznan. My own sleep cycle remains screwy. I am wide awake right now, at six in the morning, but I tend to fade badly in late afternoon/ early evening. I will need to break that cycle today, or I'll sleep through my booksigning.
It felt strange not to watch GAME OF THRONES last night. Reports of the season finale seem good, however, so I am encouraged.
My biggest problem continues to be all the tech that I brought with me to keep me connected with the world. Supposedly everything was fixed and set with my cell phone and its Polish sim... but no, it would still not connect back to Santa Fe. I made a call with the hotel land line instead, but failed to reach Parris. Left a message instead. I HOPE it was on my home machine, but you never know. And my laptop functions well enough for accessing the internet, but cannot find the server that allows it to connect to my home machine and georgerrmartin.com -- which means I have NO access to any email, and haven't had for days. This is stressing me considerably. What with everything going on in my life and career right now, it is really not good for me to be so cut off. I was repeatedly told that getting off AOL would make things better for me, email wise, but so far this seems not to be the case. AOL can at least be accessed from anywhere in the world. So I just hope no one from Random House, HarperCollins, HBO, or any of my other associates is trying to get hold of me for some urgent matter... if you are, alas, nothing is getting through. All I can say, well, Ty is Working On It.

It might alleviate some of the stress of not being able to connect to your home network.
Otherwise, I do hope you're enjoying the rest of your trip. Sad that technology isn't holding up it's end of the existential agreement in keeping you connected and up to date!
Its not often that such a great book series is done WELL in television, but if it weren't for such a strong writer who laid the basework, none of it could have gotten to where it is today. Enjoy Poland and hopefully your tech gremlins will get off your computer for a bit so that you can reconnect with all the important peoples.

Anyways, I hope you have luck getting your communication problems ironed out! :)
Am watching GoT in Israel - we see the last episode on Thurs., and I'm only sorry that the entire Ice and Fire series hasn't been done yet, because I don't want it to end! It is everything I hoped for and more; scenes are often as I pictured them while reading the books, which is amazing.
Looks like you have a crushing schedule this summer - I hope that you get through it as easily as possible.
It's completely lovely to have a story that is so dear to me told SO WELL in a visual medium.
Thank you!
Anyway, if you're interested, the season finale was stellar, book sales are sure to go up, and you're finally done with "A Dance With Dragons." Hope you enjoy the rest of your time abroad.
Good luck,
Charles
Just wanted to say that the season finale was amazing. I started reading a Song of Ice and Fire a couple years ago, and I quite seriously think that the new HBO adaptation is the *single* best adaptation I've ever seen. I was a huge fan of Tolkien, and when they moved those works onto the screen, I thought that was probably as good as we were likely to see. Boy, I was wrong.
This has stayed incredibly close to the book. A better cast couldn't have been asked for, and just... everything about it is so true to the books, it's amazing. I seriously can not wait for the next season! I'll be making a point to get it all on DVD / BluRay for my collection as soon as it's available!
Thank you so much, for everything!
As far as the season finale is concerned it will be aired today on Polish HBO so you may still have a chance to watch it in the hotel.
I wish I could go to Poznań today and ask for your signature, but alas I live to far away. Hope you have enjoyed your stay in Poland and that you will come here again!
Over all i felt like the show seemed rushed but i know you have to change a few things to simplify them for those who haven't read the books and there was some creative license involved but Can't wait till next years installment.
And I am sorry (ok, I am not) I said I hate you because of Nymeria and Robb.
By the way, here is the picture I showed you during the booksigning. link.
Everything is going fine, don't worry!
The ending was AMAZING! Truly EPIC !!!
It so wonderfull to see how your story was adapted! :)
And for th etechnology... Blaaahhhh, this is a problem for everyone now, when we can't connect with people via internet more than an hour... This is scary!!! Maybe we are slaves, now... An dyou know what, i will leva my computer now, to dive into th esecond half of A CLASH OF KINGS (yeah, i'm a newbie, i started your books at christmas...)
Lot of love from a french guy, who can't understand how he lived without you nearly 30 years.
Many kisses!!
The first season of GoT was great! I really liked the way it made me feel and I think it complemented the books in a great way. The connection between Renly and Loras was much tighter than I believed at first. Hoping for more surprises in season two.
Good luck with the rest of your trip!
As someone already mentioned, your best bet is to set-up a gmail account and then set up mail forwarding.
I'm sure with a combination of:
Setting up a gmail account
Giving the host a call via skype to get the mail settings (your home mail host)
Setting up the forwarding in gmail
You should be able to access you emails and respond to them as well all through gmail - I've set that up myself for my work emails and it works perfectly.
Hope this helps, good luck!
Tom
