A question regarding pagecount.
You have stated the manuscript was ~1500 pages.

The books I have seen on sites here in sweden states 1040 pages. Does it really differ that much from manuscript to print? or did you cut out ALOT?

I didn't have to wait years(?) for this book, as I've only started reading the series when HBO announced the plans for GOT TV series. Now that I've become a fan, I'm waiting on both the new season of GOT *and* the next books... :-)

Crossing all possible fingers that my copy won't get lost in the mail. And also that my brother doesn't steal my copy before I can get my hands on it. I was going to say I'm envious of all the people overseas who get fancy window displays and book signings, but who am I going to fool, I'm already psyched at the thought of finally getting to read ADwD.

Excellent! I finished FEAST roughly around the time DANCE had its first official delay announcement. I've kept an eye on this blog pretty much constantly throughout the entire waiting period. I was telling everyone I knew to read these books before any of the HBO development began. I have never looked forward to a book release as much as this one. I'm also going to chalk up my burgeoning interest in literature of all sorts to George, in part, as well as some inspiration to write. Can't wait to get started on DANCE, can't wait to start compulsively checking for updates on WINDS (no hurry, George). Needless to say, I think these deserve all the attention they're getting. Even if it takes a well-crafted and entertaining HBO show to finally get people's attention, I think it's great when people can be exposed to great writing quality as well as thrilling narratives, rather than mere entertainment. Congratulations, George. Eagerly awaiting Tuesday.

Ahhh that display looks so grand! I cant wait for my copy of ADWD on tuesday, just in time to give me something to read on my long car ride to NYC. If I can manage, I'd LOVE to see you at the NYC signing, if not, make a stop at Chicago sometime!

For now I am reading Songs of Stars and Shadows. Great collection of short stories you have there GRRM. Found it in a used bookstore for a dollar, poor thing is beaten up and yellowed.

Pre ordered it for my Nook (which was a gift and I thought I would NOT like it as I like holding and smelling books.. but it turns out, I LOVE it.. whoodathunk it...) So, I am just waiting for ADWD to arrive. ("Just waiting' being code for 'obsessively checking')

A good friend received an advance copy from the bookstore she works at for reviewing purposes. I did NOT ask to borrow it, and I did NOT tackle her and take it by force. But there were some mad gyrations that went on when she told me it was in her bag... not 4 feet from me...

Really enjoyed the HBO version! Which, I had to watch at a friend's house as I do not have a TV. It was rather well "condensed", and my running commentary (being rather familiar with the books... heh!) was quite welcome at a few confusing points, and in general for more backstory. We'd pause, and I'd explain, then we'd go again! Fun times!

Also, waiting for it to come out on Audible.com, working on the crossbows in the workshop while listening to them all feels very appropriate...

So I finished rereading the series, frantic that I wouldn't finish Crows in time for Dance! But I finished it with days to spare, and now this last 5-day stretch is torture! It's really amazing, the way I feel I've grown up with these books. I started reading them when I was about 15, and I'm 23 now. Each time I read them, I feel I pick up a bit more of the story, stuff that just went completely over my head the first time. It's really amazing that you've created this monster which keeps changing shape when you go to look at it again! I'm so happy you wrote these books. I'm sure you get this a lot, but they really mean so much to me as a reader. So thank you!

Actually, In Sweden both the book store Akademiebokhandeln and it's online version adlibris have already released it. Will personally wait a few days more but a friend already bought it.

Its thrilling to know that you really reached the point of having doubts about being able to finish the book. I hope the next will be not as difficult as this one! But now Kong is almost out! Can't wait for it!

Wow, love thw eindow display, I will be seeing if the Waterstones in town does something of the kind but I will be surprised if it does. So excited about the book!

I wish HBO sold house banners, I would love one of those. I'd even make one myself, but my printer is too small!
