I don't know who the actor is, but I'll bet the character is a pyromancer of the Alchemist's Guild, probably Wisdom Hallyne.

This would be pleasing news -- much as I have loved Dotrice in /Amadeus/, Babylon 5, Buffy and such (heck, even the /Hellboy/ sequel), his odd mix of panache and arrogance comes off far better as a Pyromancer than as a Maester. Hope he gets his shot.

Yes, it's ROY DOTRICE in the role of Hallyne the pyromancer, chief of the Guild of Alchemists.

The "hot hint" was a reference to pyromancy, of course.

Down under Manhattan, in the tunnel community of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, Roy played Father, the wise leader of the tunnel folk.

Later, as audiobook reader, he did all the myriad voices in the first three Ice & Fire novels.

And of course the alchemists style themselves with the honorific "wisdom."

Roy is one of the finest actors I have ever had the privilege of working with, and I'm thrilled to have him back on the series.

I am new to Game of thrones having started reading the series and am now devouring book three with the all-consuming appetite of a starving dire-wolf! These books are Genius. Thank you George for filling my summer with such wonderful fantasy. By coincidence my son Sam just auditioned (Brilliantly he was told!) in Dublin for the part of Podrick Payne - and a perfect Pod he would portray........Any news on this casting???

Excellent! I absolutely LOVE Roy. I was so disappointed when he had to drop out of the first season.
My only other wish would be that he could play every character in the HBO series as well. He could do it!
