As a Christmas gift to all my loyal fans and readers, I've just replaced the (long published) sample chapters from A DANCE WITH DRAGONS on my website with an unpublished sample chapter from THE WINDS OF WINTER.
Go ye to "Ice & Fire Sample" on my website and enjoy.
(The chronology, as usual, is tricky. This chapter will be found eventually at the beginning of WINDS, but as you will be able to tell from context, it actually takes place before some of the chapters at the end of DANCE).
Love it or hate it, please do NOT discuss it here. Any such posts will be deleted. There are plenty of great places on the net for such discussions, so take your thoughts, comments, and analysis to Westeros or the Tower of the Hand or the Podcast of Ice and Fire, or your favorite foreign language site.
(FYI, there will be a different sample chapter from WINDS OF WINTER included at the end of the paperback edition of A DANCE WITH DRAGONS when that is published next July).
Happy holidays, all. Keep reading.

One more nitpicky thing: The title of sample page is "GRRM - Wild Cards Sample" - perhaps it should be "Winds of Winter Sample" instead?
I'll keep that as a treat for New Year XD
I started reading the Song of Ice and Fire series in 2009 and have enjoyed all five volumes. I'm not a fantasy reader at all--I generally go for mysteries, thrillers, historical fiction, literary fiction and (when unwell) romance. You've created a really powerful storyline, a very realistic setting and very engaging characters--I'm a Stark family fan and I hope the siblings reunite in the end. I work as an editor, and am truly amazed at the amount of research you must have done (in medieval history and life) to create such a realistic backdrop. I wish some of my authors had done as much research as you have--I keep advising them to do so!
I look forward to reading the next two volumes in the series--we get Game of Thrones on HBO in India, but, since I hate the week-long wait for the next episode, I look forward to the release of the DVD here.
One nitpick, the title of the page is "Wild Cards Sample." I posted the link on Facebook and it displayed as that. :)
Read it and loved it. Can't wait for the book.
Thanks GRRM, and Merry Christmas to you!
