No, No, No

thumbs down
I was drinking my morning coffee when the headline flashed across the bottom of the screen. That sound you heard was me choking and sputtering.

My Jets have given up two perfectly good draft picks for Tim Tebow, the worst quarterback in the National Football League.

Gak.

What the hell are they thinking over there at Gang Green central?

Mark Sanchez is not, as yet, Eli Manning, but he is a talented quarterback with a good arm and he completes more than fifty per cent of his passes, none of which can be said for Tebow. The last thing he needs is a stadium full of Timomaniacs screaming for Tebow every time a pass falls incomplete. The divisions in the Jets locker room last season were well documented. THis is just going to make those problems a thousand times worse.

Nor do I think that Tebow's conspicuous piety will play well in the Big Apple. This is the city that once embraced Broadway Joe. Tebow would fit better in... well, if Branson, Missouri had an NFL team, that would be a perfect fit.

The difference between Tebow and Sanchez is
That Tebow led his team to the playoffs and won a playoff game last year. Sanchez did not.

Re: The difference between Tebow and Sanchez is
Sanchez led the Jets to two successive AFC championship games.

Re: The difference between Tebow and Sanchez is
I vote none of the above. The Jets should have bent over backwards for Peyton Manning so the massive gravity of two great QB brothers would collapse and drag NYC into the freshly minted singularity. Would have been epic. Alas...

True. Being a Denver resident, I just had to point that out.

Honestly, the trade is baffling, as the Jets just resigned Sanchez, why bring in the potential conflict? I can't see Tebow being happy about going to New York, either. He should just retire and become a motivational speaker.

Re: The difference between Tebow and Sanchez is
Did Tebow really lead the way? Or was it the Broncos running game and D who got them the playoff spot?

Re: The difference between Tebow and Sanchez is
Was Denver 1-4 when Tebow took over? Did they end up winning their division? (albeit a weak one). Lol, give the guy a little credit.

Re: The difference between Tebow and Sanchez is
Yes, there was a world of difference between Tebow and Sanchez last year.

Tebow led the Broncos to an 8-8 record.

Sanchez could only manage to lead the Jets to... ah... an 8-8 record.

(And FWIW, the Broncos were in the weak AFC West, the Jets in the same AFC East as Evil Little Bill and the Pats).

((Deep down, somehow I suspect that Evil Little Bill has orchestrated this somehow. His sinister minions are everywhere)).

First: George you're the best, and even though you hate the guy who led my favorite college team to 2 championships, I still love ya!

I wasn't trying to compare Sanchez v Tebow, simply responding to John's comment. Thanks for making my day!

A funny saying that's been goin around the web:

Denver officially sacrificed a virgin to win the Superbowl

Re: The difference between Tebow and Sanchez is
I love you George but why do you despise Bill Belichick and my beloved Patriots so much? I mean, your Giants have now ripped my heart out twice, the first time destroying a perfect season. Do you know how much that hurts?! Talk about life being meaningless and full of pain! Try living with that. Absolutely crushing and yet you dance on our grave. Sigh. And, the Giants won a couple of Superbowls with Bill Belichick playing a prominent part on Parcell's staff. Where's the love?

As to the Tebow and the Jets... (okay, I just erased my gratuitous and snarky comment as a gesture of goodwill from a diehard Patriots fan.)

Re: The difference between Tebow and Sanchez is
Your hatred of the Patriots only makes us stronger. This almost makes up for losing to the Giants. Well, no, it doesn't. But it's still enjoyable schadenfreude.

I cannot wait for Sanchez to get benched in week 7 after the Jets start 2-5. Poor Revis and Mangold, two all-world players stuck wasting their careers on a dysfunctional team.
