Season Three

Yes, it's official.

HBO has ordered a third season of GAME OF THRONES.

Like the first two seasons, it will be ten episodes long. This one will cover (roughly) the first half or thereabouts of A STORM OF SWORDS, the third novel in the series.

I'll be writing the seventh episode, with the working title "Autumn Storms."

Full details can be found at a dozen other places on the web, so I won't rehash 'em here. Just wanted to pass along the news to my faithful readers.

We had a grab event tonight at the Bloomsbury Theatre. Now I'm tired. night, all.

Oh, please god, let "Autumn Storms" be the episode that Dany gets the Unsullied. That is my all time favorite scene in any book ever. It still gives me shivers and I've reread it like a million times. I can't wait to see it on the screen! *squee*

Hurray!! Awesome news! I can just imagine the RW youtube reaction videos (hell, I know what happens and I'll probably be among them...every time I read SoS, I think maybe the outcome will have magically changed somehow so that everyone gets a kitten and ice cream and goes home happy).

Not really as enthusiastic as I was before season 2.
I really hate what HBO writers are doing to my favorite character :(

Wargs and Sand Kings and Bears All Covered With Hair
I've reached the end of A Dance With Dragons and now what? I can't ask you to write faster or you'll kill another Stark, say your fans. Arghh.

It comes to me that you're a skinchanger like all good authors are. Each chapter is YOU, looking out of somebody else's eyes. So you're most like Bran, but now in a body more like King Robert. (Nice allusion to William the Conqueror, there).

It comes to me also that the World of Fire and Ice is your own personal bunch of Sand Kings. If you treated them well, they'd be chivalrous and courtly and boring. But instead, you abuse them, so they evolve and do nasty and surprising and interesing things. You are Kress, too. And have been for years. I hope nobody lets you have a puppy...

Aren't you secretly afraid that one of your abused characters will get out of the box and go up a secret way, some dark night, and put a quarrel through your belly while you're on the privy, or some such?

In all seriousness, bravo on the whole work. I hope you survive a long time, so that those last three dragons (the more they get out the bigger they get, like goldfish and, yes, Sand Kings) finally get their chance to fry some Others.

Congrats - its great to see you doing so well!

One thing I will say is, if the series is split in half there seems like a fairly obvious end point. RW.

The thing about making that a season finale, is it will be less suprising. Plonked right in the centre of a book, such a massive game-changing event was entirely unexpected! At the end of a season, people will see it coming a mile away as they will realize it being the end of the season means something important happens. Less of a shock, you know? Still, I look forward to it!

an inspiration
heard you will be coming to my area again (the cold and rainy unknown northern corner of Spain) I just want to thank you for that
I am currently trying to put together some ideas, mixing real historical facts with fiction, don't know if you have ever heard of Pelayo king, the guy who supposedly stopped the Moor's invasion here, in a very small and mythical battle called Covadonga
Anyway, I just would like to thank you and your story because it gave me an angle I had never thought of, very short, it is the idea of Pelayo being a hostage, such as Theon, for the King of the visigoths, him being from the mountain tribes who had been fighting since the Romans...
sorry again for boring you if you ever get to read this
(obviously English is not my first language either)
just thanks

Hey George, you going to get a cameo appearance in season 2 this year? If not, there's always season 3......

Ser Dontos Breastplate
I seem to be the only person that has figured out that Ser Dontos' breastplate is a not so subtle slam against the NFL's New England Patriots.

Note the 3 crowns on said breastplate. The 3 superbowls that they have won. George being a huge Giants fan, the evidence is obvious.

If anyone has noted this I apologise, but i have not seen it.
