Season Three

Yes, it's official.

HBO has ordered a third season of GAME OF THRONES.

Like the first two seasons, it will be ten episodes long. This one will cover (roughly) the first half or thereabouts of A STORM OF SWORDS, the third novel in the series.

I'll be writing the seventh episode, with the working title "Autumn Storms."

Full details can be found at a dozen other places on the web, so I won't rehash 'em here. Just wanted to pass along the news to my faithful readers.

We had a grab event tonight at the Bloomsbury Theatre. Now I'm tired. night, all.

Re: On that subject...
"Fan from 2001 here. Really fed up with all the gratuitous nudie scene that HBO inserts all over the place. I am not a prude - but the sheer quantity and expliciteness(?) of it gets to the point where it's changing the mood of the story from a medieval epic tinged with fantasy - and simply a breakthrough solid piece of English writing - to a pink pervie Walmart top shelf commercial romance for trailer park moms."

COMMENT: Well, to me, "gratuitous" is something that isn't in the novel, or else that is there, but could have been shown partly, and gotten the same effect. I suppose we didn't need to see Daenerys in the bath, but on the other hand, she has to come out buck naked from the funeral pyre or else you miss the point that her clothes burned, but she didn't (I think she should have been bald, too, but grant her hair HBO magic license). If they ever get to book 5, how are they going to do Cersei's walk of shame with only cute framed shots? They'll have to use a body double or the real actress, or else it's just not going to work.

If they make it that far in the series, they'll also have some of the same problem with what is maybe my favorite Danny line from whole saga, one that made me laugh out loud. It's Daenerys to Daario: “I am your queen, and I command you to fuck me."
