Own the Iron Throne

In Westeros they have to fight and kill and scheme for the Iron Throne.

Out here in the real world, you can just buy it.

The HBO Shop is offering a full-sized (yes) replica of the Iron Throne for sale. You can own your very own for a mere $30,000. Plus shipping and handling:

I don't who keeps records of these things, but this may well be the largest and most expensive item of merchandising ever offered for a TV show. Unless STAR TREK sold a full-sized flyable ENTERPRISE when I wasn't looking.

Hey, maybe if they sell enough of these, they will do the Painted Table next!

I am ALL up for a Painted Table! Maybe they can have a miniature of it.

As long as it doesn't have shadow babies or Melisandre attached, I think it would be a lovely addition to my home. Makes playing tabletop games more exciting!

Amused. Iron Throne - I thought it was pretty uncomfortable to sit on it. And who could afford it??? Thanks for sharing, though. I like you. You make us laugh :)

Can I avoid the 1800 shipping if I pick it up myself? I'm down with the 30K but 1800 S&H may prove daunting.

Inspired by your comment at Comic-con about passing a hat around for contributions for Blackwater CGI, I did the same during the past week for one of these. The bad news is that I didn't come close. The good news is I did have enough for a $5 footlong at Subway *hums tune*

When the Star Trek Experience closed down, they did sell off a lot of the props... nothing this expensive though!

http://twitpic.com/9upxxw $4500 for the Borg Queen and

http://twitpic.com/9upynn for a full-size shot.

I think she was sold at the point I took these, but the case was still around... wonder if it sold.

Re: Why dont you buy it?
I'm pretty sure he's able to get one free, or at a very nice discount.

I want one, but I'm about $29,000 short!

totally giggling at the idea of a full size flyable Enterprise, my little self would have loved that! I hope the throne they're selling is a bit more forgiving than the real one though, what with it's penchant for stabbing people and all!

Right, let me just grab my $30,000 bill.

So cool
Wow that would be awesome to own! Hopefully they are still around in 10 years when I am filthy rich haha.

Amazing! I wish I can have it.
Jun. 10th, 2012 08:40 am (UTC)
I would buy one if I had the money... and an extra room for it.
Jun. 10th, 2012 09:26 am (UTC)
OK, that's cool and all, but...isn't the Iron Throne really, really uncomfortable? I get the metaphor there, but not actually ruling any kingdoms of my own I'm not sure I'd want one of these in place of my recliner, even if it came at a decent price. Just saying.

Check out the reviews on this site :) :

"I replaced my regular office chair with one of these. The entire company usually refers to me as the Tyrant of IT. Now I have the chair that goes with it. I sit in this thing like a boss and just glare at people who come in with ridiculous requests. All I am missing is The Hand and The Imp and I could rule this company, town, and likely the state just by the sheer power of awesomeness that emanates from my new throne."

"Wife is making me send it back. I don't understand why she doesn't like it."

"This thing is great! I love the fact I don't have to get up from the table any more to get a steak knife. Plus it's great to have when the in-laws visit it really shows them who's in control."

"I am disappointed at how the editors and producers have portrayed King Joffrey in the first two seasons of Game of Thrones. He is a kind and noble ruler and yet they only show his bad days. I bought this wonderful chair (as well as a really solid crown, a velvet robe and some pointy shoes) so that I could reenact the good King Joffrey as he dispenses fruit, spices and milled grains to the people and dispatches his guard to troubled areas of the kingdom to assist in barn raising, the fall harvest and constructing an unprecedented interkingdom highway system."

"It is hard to put a slip cover over it, the swords keep tearing the cover."

This was incredibly funny! My stomach hurts from laughing so hard. Thank You. :-)

You're telling me that for the price of a new car I only KIND of need...I could have an iron throne instead?! This would make a much better story than "so then I got a minivan".
Jun. 10th, 2012 05:33 pm (UTC)
For 30K you'd think they could toss in shipping but hey, whatever.

they should try reproduction crowns and remote controlled flying dragons. :)
Jun. 10th, 2012 05:51 pm (UTC)
I think it's safe to say that the phrase "would that I could" applies!

I'm curious to see what HBO can come up with through the rest of the series. And here I thought the beer steins were genius!

Thrones! Get 'em While They're Still In Stock!
What a country! Only in America can you buy the one thing no one in Westeros can hold onto very long! Now I'll need to book a pig-riding act... maybe with dwarves...
Jun. 10th, 2012 10:13 pm (UTC)
30,000 is a wee bit too much for me. I may have to just pay the iron price...
Jun. 11th, 2012 03:09 am (UTC)

As soon as I win the lottery I'll buy two and plant them in the front of my driveway.

Actually very happy this is working out for you. Can't imagine who would drop 30k on a knick-knack though. Maybe the local museum?

Iron thorn
All that created quite an iron dilemma for me
Which one is better:
- applying to Iron Bank for a loan or
- paying the iron cost.

TBH – I’ve done stupider things in my life.

Owning Westeros
All very testosterone-laden souvenirs so far. Some gentler, recession-busting alternatives please. E.g. redkeep dragon gold coin or bravosi coin pendants, Silent Sisters' baby carrier, (great for keeping sun of babies little faces), little black plastic krakens for the gold fish bowl, a mousemat proclaiming all the 'Kings of Westeros' from Aegon I (to replace my current, 'The Presidents of America' mousemat), scented drawer-liners, 'Lyanna's Blue Roses' fragrance; Arya's lemon cupcakes, "Bolton's Bastard Skin Care Range", Lord Tarly's Workout DVD, "Dolorous Ed's Little Book of Happiness" etc.
Jun. 11th, 2012 01:31 pm (UTC)
I can just see Kirk on the Iron throne on the bridge of the Enterprise...
Jun. 12th, 2012 03:02 am (UTC)
Now there's a great idea for a meme...photo-shopped pictures of different people sitting on the Iron Throne...Kirk on the bridge...Emperor Palpatine on the Death Star...The Lincoln Memorial...
