Home Again...

... for two whole days.

Had a great week teaching at Clarion West. A very talented group of young(ish) writers. You'll be hearing from some of them in the next few years, I suspect. Assuming they want it badly enough. Persistance and hunger and a certain amount of luck are required to make it in the writing game, as well as talent. Anyway, I have left them to the not-so-tender mercies of Connie Willis, SFWA's newest Grand Mis... er, Master.

Now I get to be home for those TWO WHOLE DAYS and catch up on a thousand emails.

On Wednesday, I am off to San Diego for Comicon. I go direct from there to Spain. Don't expect a lot of posts here for the next month.

You are a very busy man. Makes me wonder when you have time for writing the new book. I will wait patiently but the suspense is killing me. =)

Dear George,

I hope to see you in Italy someday. I assure you it's a very beautiful country, full of pretty girls, good food (and wine too). Ah and naturally there are a lot of fans of your books!

how much time do you have for writing?
With all the other work you have to do, how much time do you have for writing? Do you budget a certain number of hours/day? Does your assistant help you with scheduling your work? Such as now you need to write, and then cuts off all calls and so on? I would think with all the projects you have going, its hard to juggle them.

btw, does Ty Franck still work for you? I think you mentioned a different assistant. I just picked up Leviathan Wakes. It has gotten terrific reviews. I really liked some of Daniel Abraham's other books and I am really looking forward to it.

Clarion West!
Thanks again, George, for taking time to teach out of your busy schedule! We all had such a fantastic time, and we learned a ton.

For all those out there, yes, George is about as amazing in person as you would expect him to be.

I wish I was going to get to see you in San Diego... unfortunately I can't go to Comic Con... :(

I hope you have fun and decide to go next year (I think I can be there next year!)

Oh! Is there a new calendar this year at Comicon? :)
Jul. 10th, 2012 01:11 am (UTC)

One of the best lines I stole from the Flying Karamazov Brothers is:
“A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. And so do I.”

you should come and teach classes in New Zealand! You know, because it doesn't sound like you're busy enough at the moment. ;)

Have an amazing time in Spain! xoxo

I hope with those TWO WHOLE DAYS you are able to rest in between. I wish I could go to Comic-Con and meet you again - I don't need to say have fun. Then off to Spain...enjoy yourself.

Get some REST! No * Is * Good !!!
Re: Comic-Con . . . since G4 is supposed to be showing Comic Con all weekend long (yikes!), what programs/events/etc. are on your schedule?

I find at comic-con.org only a Game of Thrones Panel and Q&A Session on Friday, 2:45-3:45. One event would be good . . . you could get some rest in and around meals out with friends and publishers.

Nag, Nag, Nag,

In Avilés we are looking forward to see you at the festival "Celsius 232"!!! I hope I get a number for the signing on saturday.

Thank you again for being so generous with your time and so thorough and insightful with your readings. And especially thank you for sharing your knowledge of the history of the field. So much has gone before that I very much feel like a whipper-snapper most of the time, but in a good way.

So much reading to do.

Food n Spain
Three years ago I visited Barcelona and I still dream of going back to La Bombeta and have some great bombas, tapas, and wash it all down with the best sangria I have ever tasted.

Is there any particular dish or food you are loosking forward to having at Spain??

Re: Food n Spain

Also, perhaps surprisingly, some of the best pizza we've ever tasted can be found in Gijon, in Asturias, at a place called Vesuvio. Of course, this time we'll be Aviles, not Gijon, but hey, they're close...

Love authentic Spanish gazpacho too.

Light a fire under your brilliant ass!
George....I gotta ask...please...please! PLEASE! Write the next book and soon. I simply can not wait to read the next one! I'm currenlty half way through book 5 and I'm reading slow on purpose beacuse I can't live a life where I have to wait for extended periods of time to find out what happens.YOU ARE THE AMERICNA TOLKEN. You gotta represent.

Ps. With great power comes great responsibility.
