My husband and I were just in Barcelona last month for our honeymoon. One of our favorite cities, definitely. We saw copies of your books translated into Catalan everywhere we went and were psyched to see how far you've come. Make sure to have bread with tomato, ham croquettes, and tortilla española, if you haven't yet!

And I agree, Barcelona and London, the best place in the world to get lost. I hope you taste some Riojas Wines there... you will say it taste like what westeros wines?

I can understand why you love that city. There is just history oozing up in all the little alleys.
Though, in my experience, you gotta be careful around the Ramblas. Lots of sneaky people around, both con-artists and pickpockets.

If it's any consolation, I spent part of my weekend shoveling down a tamale plate at Tortilla Flats which had so much green chile on it I got a personally-delivered handwritten thank you note from the mayor of Hatch.

Mr. Martin's comment about getting lost in the winding streets sent me back to my time in Barcelona.

I spent a week there about 13 years ago (wow... it can't be that long ago, can it?). I was a student studying abroad in Europe.

It was the same then. No matter where you turned there was a cafe that served terrific tapas, great beer and sangria so good you will drink it by the pitcher. I'm glad all that still seems to hold true.

A beautiful city and so much fun to explore. If any of you get a chance to visit I suggest you jump at the opportunity. And try the chorizo!

Have fun in Spain, Mr. Martin, Barcelona is THE greatest city in Europe. Can't think of a place I've had more fun and felt more at ease.
I guess it's why I like reading about Dorne.

I'm The girl who was dressed as Melisandre, I hope you enjoyed the bottle of 3 Liters of orujo!! It's a typical drink from Galicia (Westeros of Spain) and it's very good for digestion you should take a shot after lunch :)

This morning you met one of my friends at te airport(the girl who worked at the airport and asked you for a signature) She usually dresses as Daenerys but she wasn't abale to come to the meeting on Saturday, I'm glad that at least she menaged to see you by pure chance!!! XDDDDDDDDD

Hope you're both enjoying Barcelona to the fullest, it's a beautiful city and I can greatly recommend the restaurant Can Paixano (Carrer de la Reina Cristina, 7) with amazing cheap and delicious food all served with champagne, if you're still in town. Might be heading to Barcelona in a few days, seems I'll miss running in to you on the streets though which is a shame.

Now for some annoying fan-pandering, but mild such since I understand you hate fans constantly nagging you with suggestions and requests. I just want to express my hopes that you might add the house words of House Reed in one of the future books. Those little details are just what makes this Epic so epic, and the Reeds are one of my favourite houses. Hope you enjoy the rest of your travels in Spain!

Yeah Barça is amazing, though the tapas these days are actually more authentic and honest in Perpignan, in French Catalonia :-)

Green chile = good. chile con queso verde = sublime.

Queso and I have an uneasy alliance; but, after a Zantac or four, I'm good to go. Sounds like Spain was great fun, looking forward to reading the interviews.

Too funny. Just moved away from Barcelona and miss it so much, thanks for rubbing it in. Lived in the heart of Gracia (the old city) for two years and spent my first four months there devouring ASOIF in an old bar just off of Plaza de Gran Vila de Gracia. Amusing that I'm indebted to you for those good memories while you're the one now walking around there.
