Home Again

A long, long day of travel yesterday, Barcelona to Atlanta to Albuquerque to Santa Fe. Followed by collapse.

But it's a new day, and I am back at my desk in the land of green chile. Just finished getting caught up on my email. So much work to do.

Thanks for all my friends in Spain for making our visit so much fun.

Not sure what happened to my first comment. Stinking iPhone.
Welcome home. Just finished the "A song of Ice and fire" first five.
I'm a little sad now. I'm looking for some other books to catch up on till book 6.
Any help would be appreciated.
Anyone please feel free to reply. I'm new on here and it was a bit of a pain signing up.
GRRM, if you find yourself in Lubbock, please post so I can get an autograph.

No plans to be in Lubbock, but the worldcon in 2013 will be in San Antonio, and I will definitely be on hand for that one.

And I will be in College Station next year as well.

See my Appearances page on my website for links and details.

Hi George!
I just read on your website that you'll be coming to Australia next year. I can't tell you how excited I am!
I have questions about both BatB and Brienne for you, so I'll be first in line.

You make me dream and i'm sure not being the only one, so merci beaucoup, and have a good day

Welcome Back!!
I'm glad to hear your back. Not all is quite on the home front. While you were away Eli Manning turned into a fairy and is hanging out with Deon Sanders. lol. I guess money knows no bounds. By the way, in case your wondering hanging out with Deon is worse than dressing like a fairy.

Seeing how you are such a big tolkien fan,how do you feel about the hobbit adaptation being split into a trilogy?

Re: hobbit
It boggles the mind a bit, but I am willing to give Peter Jackson the benefit of the doubt.

Question: do you make your own chile, or do you have a special place you visit faithfully? If you make your own batch, I am sure I'm not the only one who'd love a recipe or three. ;)

I don't cook.

But Santa Fe is full of places with great chile. I would suggest Tecolote Cafe or Chris's Cafe for breakfast, the Shed or Tomasita's or (especially) Maria's for dinner or lunch.

A fan
Dear George,

I have devoured your Game of Thrones books recently; I would like to thank you for your excellent work, the rhythm of the prose and story line are impeccable.

The balance you strike between the absolutely real and the magical also ensnares me, it is a style I love.

I have been working hard for the past few years to put myself in a position to be able to write myself, your style fascinates me and although I do write fantasy our story lines are quite different.

I can imagine you are an extremely busy individual yourself, however I would like to ask a small favour, I am looking for a mentor, I would be eternally grateful if that could be you, yet I understand that this may be unlikely, however maybe you could suggest someone?

Yours sincerely,
A Fan & Aspiring Author.

Re: A fan
I have no time to mentor anyone, sorry.

I would suggest you check out the FAQ on my website, where I have some good advice for aspiring writers.

Beauty and the Beast remake?
Just read online that they're doing a remake of YOUR version of Beauty and the Beast (Vincent and all that)... but that Vincent is just going to be a pretty boy with some scars on his face....

...

Any thoughts on this?

Re: Beauty and the Beast remake?
I have seen the pilot.

I don't know. Call me a quibbler, but it does seem to me that if you set out to remake THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES, it behooves you to include some, you know, hillbillies.

In praise of George RR Martin & Tyrion Lannister
Dear Mr. Martin,

I am from the UK, and following the 1st season of Game of Thrones, I got into reading ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’, I read the first book in a month and am now on to the second.

I also have a disability, cerebral palsy, and whilst I’m sure it wasn’t your intention when writing him, I do think that Tyrion is one of the most important characters in fiction. Growing up with a disability, in fiction the best you could look forward to would be a Tiny Tim or Richard III, or if you were lucky Graves’ Claudius. With Tyrion you have presented a full rounded character instead of 2D cardboard cut out. Thanks for that.

Yours,

The Diresheep should write me an email. Much better than posting messages on LJ.
