Labor Day weekend has been the traditional worldcon weekend since the 1940s. When Dragoncon moved to that weekend, they broke a half-century of fannish tradition.
That's sad. I'm sure it must have upset many people who had been around from the beginning. Wish it had been different. I live in South Alabama so Dragon*Con is the nearest big time con for me to get to. I'll just have to plan on visiting another con to shake your hand one day. :)
