Me and Marvel

torcon
Here's an interview I don't believe I have linked to yet... mostly about my days as a comic book fanboy in the dawn of comics fandom, and my relationship with Marvel and comics in general.

Hard to believe how many decades have passed. What a long, strange trip it's been.

Reboots and retcons
I loved learning that you dislike reboots and retcons. I hate them, hate hate hate them. Nowadays they are everywhere. Books, comics, movies, even video games. .. ( rebooting Tomb Raider and Lara Croft's back story...) For me a story starts with a promise between the writer and the reader: writer already has the rules, history, background, even a bit of future of the world and characters he created and will reveal it to reader eventually and everything that happens will be in the zone of those predetermined rules & history.

Rebooting and retcons break that major promise - most of the time for financial reasons - and they are a big no nos for me. Now I will have to check how can I start with those Wildcard books :)

Re: Reboots and retcons
You know what. I agree about re-boots. But, if there was ever a movie that needs a re-boot, it would be The last Air Bender. Man that was an awful movie.
