Not that it makes up for it (since HBO doesn't profit from them), but maybe the more literate leeches will be inspired enough to actually go BUY the books afterwards.

Cool i just discover than French ISP Orange who diffuse HBO Series in France make VOD in French Version now ( € 1,99 by episode ... ) but i admit than i discover by pirate (links in guild's forum ...) but in France there are no ads for HBO series ( shame last year i had Orange and didn't knew HBO ...)
But i buy book ( very cost in french ... ) and even ADWD in english ...
You learn me new english world GRR Martin ;) ... ( "ugly","dirk" ... )

Well, considering your non-American fans: it *is* rather hard for most people to wait months on end before your national TV finally picks up the new season, when you could watch it online the next day. That said, the show is bought by most national tv-channels as well (and watched again by the fans), so I wonder if HBO loses any money over that...?

I agree : for season 1 it was unable to french people to look legaly the show in VOSTFR , VO or VF ( unless you had Orange Cinema ... depends on your ISP ... ) before DVD sold ...

HBO VOD was impossible for non US people ( i tried ... )

If HBO was international and not only US , i think it will be different .
