SFRevu has a new review of INSIDE STRAIGHT up at

They've also posted an interview with me and Melinda Snodgrass about INSIDE STRAIGHT, the Wild Cards revival, and the series in general. That one can be found at

Only eighteen days until the publication of INSIDE STRAIGHT, by the way! Run down to your favorite bookstore and place your preorder now, all you aces (and jokers too). And wait till you get a look at the cool holographic foil Tor used on the cover.

The series sounds more & more awesome with every article & interview I read about it. Now just to find a store that carries the earliest books (I really want to read them in order) If I buy them online I'll never hear the end of it from my wife, ("YOU BOUGHT MORE BOOKS, ARE YOU CRAZY????"). She'll ofcourse read the books after me but she'll say thats beside the point.

Yeah, I know it's a new story arc, but I'm a bit obsessive about reading every book in a series too. Is there any chance of them being re-published, as omnibuses or even e-books?

not at this time but
maybe, in the future, if this new trilogy does well, there will be reissues of the earlier books.

Until then, haunt your favorite local used book stores. You may be able to find used copies at SF speciality shops, many will do searches and requests and have online sites. Try Dreamhaven books, Dark Carnival, both have stores and site, and other SF book dealers at conventions. Sometimes copies pop up at the various charity auctions at conventions we attend. Just a few years ago I donated the first 6 books to the BosKone auction, signed by many of the writers, including Roger Zelazny. The set went for $150, not a high price, considering the condition of the set and the signatures.

INSIDE STRAIGHT is the beginning of a new generation, it's 'not your father's WILD CARDS'. Give it a try, and see how you like it, and if you do, then go searching for all those earlier books. If this series goes well for TOR, then we may see more reissues and more new books set in the present/future.

We're beginning to call the clans to gather for the mega-WILD CARDS signing party at Page One in Albuquerque on Feb 2. Looks like it's going to be one to remember, with many members of the Wild Cards Consortium in attendance.

I'll be the one wearing the Radha O'Reilly custom airbrushed t-shirt.

I'm glad I broke down and preordered the book. I can't WAIT until I get my copy :) These interviews are only making me more excited.

I'm on the verge of breaking down. :) I usually don't care for superhero fiction, but that one sounds more and more interesting.

It's a good example how the internet has changed my book buying behaviour. If I had come across the book in a store some ten years ago I'd have picked it up because of the name GRR Martin, read the backcover and most probably set it down again. These days there is so much additional info online that I can revise my meaning. And I bet I'm not the only one with a growing TBR pile these days. :)

Do you think the Giants will manage to defeat Tampa?

If they pplay the way they played against the Patriots, it won't be a problem.

If they play the way they played against the Vikings, no chance.

That's why they play the games.

Re: G-Men
Perhaps you should rephrase that...

If they play the way they played against the Patriots, it won't be a problem.

If ELI plays the way he did against the Vikings, no chance.

Re: G-Men
If the Giants play the way they did against the Patriots, and the Cowboys and Packers keep slumping, they might get a rematch with NE. . .

Excellent, I was so annoyed when iBooks went out of print for (amongst other reasons) the fact that I would no longer be able to get reissues of the series. The new book makes up for it.
