You are not a number, you are a free man!

...be seeing you...

Many of the authors ranked higher than you made me cringe
Nov. 29th, 2012 10:57 pm (UTC)
At least he's ahead of Stephanie Meyer.

it's disturbing that EL James is on 4.... cruel world
Nov. 29th, 2012 08:12 pm (UTC)
I can't believe E.L. James made the list with her erotic fanfic.
Nov. 29th, 2012 08:14 pm (UTC)
4. EL James

Known For: "Fifty Shades of Grey."

Wow. I boggle.

I don't really get the basis of "power" here. Um, power how? By influencing what's on the screen? I don't know.. I have a lot of problems with this list.
O well, I'm just a nobody - but on This Nobody's List, you're not a number, but absolutely indispensable~!

They were drinking to much Dornish wine when they made that list
Nov. 29th, 2012 09:38 pm (UTC)
Screw that George, you are way cooler - and more "powerful" than EL James! Fifty Shades Of Gray my foot :P

By the Gods and number 7
Nov. 29th, 2012 09:58 pm (UTC)
It is great to be acknowledged by mainstream media, right? From Colombia I send you the best wishes and thank you for a wonderful literary work. I'm eagerly expecting the final two chapters!

Considering most of those authors write on topics that have mass appeal (romance/sex) while A Song of Ice and Fire is a fantasy series that has gained mass appeal based on the quality of its content, I think seven is extremely impressive. Breaking down barriers, boss.
Nov. 29th, 2012 10:35 pm (UTC)
Hope you don't let this power get to your head. Last thing we need is you turning all super villain on us :s
Nov. 29th, 2012 10:52 pm (UTC)
Nicholas Sparks, EL James, Stephenie Meyer = blah! Glad you made the list, as well as Stephen King, another one of my favorite authors!
Nov. 29th, 2012 11:21 pm (UTC)
7 is a good number
you should use it more often in ASOIAF.
Nov. 30th, 2012 12:47 am (UTC)
what would Shakespeare or Tolkein say?
I am so conflicted about this...who really cares what Stephanie Meyers thinks? I consider my own opinion WAY more sophisticated, intellectual, enlightened & cultivated. I am however pleased to see you are on a list viewed by millions of people in the Entertainment industry. How do they do that? Quantify SO many artists over an indeterminate span of years? it's not right. Ser Martin you are so much more than that and you deserve better!! But if it makes you smile it makes me smile too. :)

I may not know anything about hollywood power but I do know that I can't wait for your next works and will be camping outside bookstores two days in advance to get them while the very thought of reading a Fifty Shades sequel -which sadly already exists - makes me want to puke.

But then again, your works are usually known among intelligent readers/viewers... Not many brain cells were involved in writing Fifty Shades.

A passage from ADWD
Not spoilery, unless you consider knowing that a character is still alive by book 5 take's away from your enjoyment. In that case don't read the following:

"A well-thumbed tome about the erotic adventures of a young slave girl in a Lysene pillow house.... The slave girl's story was the worst written but the most engrossing"

-Tyrion's critique on one of the three books aboard the Selaesori Qhoran

Honestly, given the rather anticlimactic 5 authors between you and Stephen King at #1, I think you might be second. Fifty Shades of Grey? The Walking Dead? These are filler works.
Nov. 30th, 2012 04:46 am (UTC)
everyone but you! Congratulations!! xoxo
Nov. 30th, 2012 06:10 am (UTC)
I guess that means the Seven are all smiling on you... not that I'd particularly want the Stranger smiling on me, that would be terrifying. Though I do have to agree with other people, you deserve to be way higher on that list

Anyhow, congratulations!

Number 7
Stay away from intergalactic bounty hunters (Mogs) even if they're still hunting number four ;)
Steven Townshend
Nov. 30th, 2012 02:25 pm (UTC)
You'll only move up on that list as Hollywood "discovers" your vast (and wonderful) body of work.
Nov. 30th, 2012 02:28 pm (UTC)
You are number what???
Greatest book series in 50 years... greatest TV series since THE WIRE... not to mention that they don't seem to understand how HBO viewership numbers work... this article is ridiculous!

Like the New Jersey Giants, you're number 1!

This list is absurd. I am glad you are on it, but any list that talks about Authors and Hollywood that does not include:

JK Rowlings
John Grisham
Tom Clancy

is just, worthless. EL James? Really?
Beate Ratz

All right!
Congratulations man!
Oh, let's thank the Seven!

By the way, this one has finished the fifth book and therefore reached the point where he can only be spoilered by one single person in the realm...

Now I'm counting the days till Season two is released on BluRay (looking forward to these animated/narrated mini-stories)
