So the official George and his publisher approved World of Ice and Fire app is available. I can attest to the fact that he personally worked on this project, because I sat and took notes as we went over hundreds of questions on random Ice and Fire arcana. No, it didn't delay Winds of Winter. I made him do it while he ate lunch. Yes, he complains when I make him work during lunch.
The most iPhone literate person in our office had this to say after playing with the app for a while:
"Have you ever forgotten who killed who, or who's who's parents while having a conversation at a coffee shop or between novels on the bus? Well now that The new official WORLD OF ICE AND FIRE app is available you can fact check any and all things Ice and fire anywhere you find yourself. The app is on sale for the iPad, iPhone, and Nook, a limited free version of the app is up and ready for fans to download with additional info pack available as well. It features profiles of more than 540 characters, 380 places, and major houses, along with interactive world maps. This exclusive guide to all things Ice and Fire is easy to navigate featuring beautiful art, and easy touch access to any query you may have on your journey through Westerous. You can read new text specially written for the app by Elio M. Garcia and Jr. and Linda Antonsson all about your favorite characters and their histories. So go and download yours today and get access to the World of Ice and Fire at your fingertips."

(Is it coming for Android is what I'm saying. ;))
Thanks for all the hard work you do for Mr. Martin.
thanks!
Would you please consider making this app available for android too?
Otherwise, it's a great idea!
That said, it's very much aimed to a particular segment of the readership. It's not necessarily meant for those who prefer using Westeros.org to look things up, or who are really hardcore fans. There's some new information in there, but mostly it's just a concise way of presenting character and location information.
But Android at least would be very very nice.
I love my Aqoiaf!! XOXO
Or have B&N paid for an exclusive period?
Would you let us know when those outside of B&N's walled garden and the US will be allowed to buy it, please?
No plans presently for an Android version, but that may change depending on demand and interest, we've been told. So far as we know, the same holds for Windows Phone. (And no, we don't think Symbian is ever going to happen.)
I believe it's available in the UK iTunes store as well as the US store. I'm not sure when/if it will be released to other markets.
Did a major spoiler slip by?
