Miniatures Are Coming

tyrion
Welcome to 2013. everyone. Hope you're all not too hungover this morning.

No wild parties for us this year, alas. We sat at home and read. Nothing much on television, but good books never let you down.

To kick off the new year, here's a peek at two new figures coming from Dark Sword -- Strong Belwas and Margaery Tyrell, sculpted by Tom Meier and painted by Jen Haley.

Amazing work, I think you'll agree. Unpainted versions will be available soon from Dark Sword. Be sure and keep an eye on their website. Lots more cool stuff coming for 2013,

Nothing wrong a quiet New year's, I've had a few of them..planning things can often fall apart. What were you reading by the way?

And those look impressive - as a fan of knights / models / miniatures, I'm sure you have an appreciation for them. Ice and Fire and Game of Thrones have some varied, and quality, merchandise I must say.

Neat!
I've never really been into painting or anything, but I've been wanting to give it more of a try in a long time, and these have given me some motivation! Maybe something to do over the break...I can't believe how beautiful some people make a plain miniature!

Re: Neat!
Not for nothing, but a friend of mine painted all the pieces for his LOTR tabletop game; it took him six months, but they look fantastic.

Not with my shaky hands
I would make a horrible mistake and end up tearing its little head off. But then again it could be Ned, I'll just add a little red paint to the stump and act like I intended it to look that way. Oh the irony!

margaery?
i'm usually impressed by these miniatures, both casting and paint, but does anyone else think margaery looks older than cersei? this woman looks like should be handing a poisoned apple to snow white ...

Nice.
These are great. Strong Belwas is definitely one of my favorite characters. Can't wait for the next book. And I dont know if anyone has mentioned it to you before but as I watched the Orange Bowl tonight I noticed the Florida State band played the HBO Game of Thrones theme several times during the game. Not that it needs any publicity or advertisement at this point. Just thought it was pretty cool. Neat to hear a marching band take on that one.

Perhaps it seems more time was spent on Belwas than on Margaery, eh? I usually spend about five hours on each miniature when I paint them and do other work. Look good though!

No way, three hours for me and then I'm done with that miniature, finally.

Practically that might be enough, though sometimes I even manage six hours, which I did on my own made version of Darkstar.

Margaery's dress is certainly much prettier than the lampshade they wrapped poor Natalie Dormer in...

Oh!
Perhaps my favourite miniature is the she-dire wolf with the six little cubs – the magic emanating from the composition is really great! Margery and Strong Belwas would be a wonderful addition to my collection of course. Great, job indeed. Thank you for the announcement!

Margaery is smokin'..
I'm agog - 0.0 - surprised and pleased to the they captured the hotness of the babe Tyrell. May have to bust open the piggy bank for this one.

Miniatures
The minute artistry is exquisite: skintone, eyes, folds, textures. BTW if I was your next Con rep, I'd present you with: replica of your 'mini-me' costume to wear, 'tail' of guards, (handy to form an arrowhead to the bar - maybe two 'NY Giants', as some must be job-hunting - or the BWB would suffice), banners, sigilled shields & full length velvet/vair trim, cloaked gown for the Lady Martin, all in matching colours & sigils! You'd make quite an entrance! Well, I am sure you always DO make quite an entrance. Oh.. thought.. Cons must arrange this kind of fun for you as a matter of course? Just googled 'vair' to discover it is 'heraldic patches of squirrel fur' (who knew?).... so that would be a 'faux vair fur' then. Try saying that quickly after a few bheers!
