This is in my opinion the worst teaser of the series so far. From my perspective, seeing modern buildings in a video made for an Ice and Fire themed show just doesn't look right. Nevertheless, I can't wait for season 3 to begin!

I am scheduling my life around the show. I was supposed to go away the weekend that it premieres but I moved the trip up a week once the start date was announced. Yaay!

I don't know if the pun is deliberate, but the beautiful red brick building at 0:23 is the famous “Rookery” on south La Salle St. in Chicago. It was built in 1888, and is transitional into the invention of the skyscraper. Its cast iron skeleton made much larger spans possible, so it has a beautiful, show-off atrium on the ground floor. (And it was designed by John Wellborn Root and Daniel Burnham, and the lobby later redecorated by Frank Lloyd Wright.)

The nickname precedes the building; temporary city hall was there right after the fire, in a building infested with pigeons. Crows too, allegedly, making the name a pun on the morals of Chicago aldermen . . .

To the uninitiated, this makes GOT S3 appear to be a similar to show to The Magicians. That or its implying some new twist where half the season takes place in our world

George, how do you feel about them straying away from your material this upcoming season and changing the setting to Earth in the year 2013?

I positively love that song. I sang it for days (perhaps weeks) on end after it first came out in season 2, until my friends began to abandon me. (Silly friends.)

The crow gives me goosebumps, but only because I know I'm waiting for that third eye.

But that in combination with "our world", to me, feels just jarring. I think for someone not invested in the series or the books it won't add much suspense, it's just an odd little song and a three-eyed bird. It gives the expectation of an urban fantasy.

For someone who has read the books... well, personally, I want to see more of Westeros. Add in a character or two moving from world to world and the effect implied by the text might have come through. A showing of Jon Snow with sword and armour would have given more a sense of what the series is about. Though Bran would have been more in line with the crow...

Eh, then again, I shouldn't be complaining. I'll be happily off now, to sing the Castamere tune to myself for another couple of weeks. Maybe all the way up until next season starts.
