The World Is Mine

Morocco
My slow conquest of the world continues, nation by nation and language by language.

Just signed contracts for an Icelandic edition of Ice & Fire, the first time I'll be published in that language, and now my agent informs me that he's closed a deal for a Persian (Farsi) edition as well... a first for him as well as me.

WILD CARDS is marching on as well, with new deals for the first seven books in Mexico and Russia.

My husband and I were in Barcelona last summer and I was very excited to see a huge display of ASOIF books in Catalan at a bookstore inside the Sants train station.

(And being a professional translator myself, it just tickles my nerdy side to see my colleagues doing such a great job at bridging the language gaps to share such great writing!)

I was in Barcelona myself last summer. One of my favorite cities. The Ramblas, the old town, the cathedral, sangria, jamon, and my beautiful Spanish fans... (some with diresheep)...

It's gorgeous and the natives are some of the friendliest I've seen in a major city. Definitely one of our favorites as well. Nothing like sitting outdoors having genuine tapas and sangria without being hurried to leave by the waiter and without breaking the bank.

I have to say, though, some of the best sangria we had on our trip was in a place called Tarragona (about an hour by train outside of Barcelona). My husband and I are big history buffs and the Roman ruins in this place were incredible. If you are ever in the area again and haven't checked it out, we highly recommend it. And stop by La Casa del Vermut for a nice pitcher of sangria. :-)
