The episode I scripted for the third season of GAME OF THRONES has undergone another title change. "Chains" is out. It was a pretty good title, but an even better one, even more apt, presented itself when D&D shuffled a few scenes between episodes, so episode 307 is now...

... no, I don't think I'll tell. Best wait to HBO announces all ten of the episode titles. I mean, the title has already changed twice, I would rather not have to make another post if it changes again.

I lost a title, but gained a song.

The Bear and the Maiden Fair I hope?? :))

That would indicate the Purple Wedding, which is sometime after the Red Wedding, which is towards the end...

Actually that would not indicate the Purple Wedding, since the song happens when Sansa is dining with the Tyrells, which is before all the weddings.

Or the Dornishmen's wife!

Nah, it's The Rains of Castamere, of course. You all know what I mean.
Feb. 26th, 2013 05:00 pm (UTC)
Rains of Castamere?
Feb. 26th, 2013 05:02 pm (UTC)
mmm ... an unchained melody
rains of castamere...? Too obvious..

George, man! You fiend!

At this point in Season 1 and 2's dev cycle, we knew the names of your episodes and vaguely knew what part of the story you were handling.

Why so much secrecy this time around? Oh wait,... we're talking about George RR Martin here.

Thank you again for putting so many turtle species in your book series, from one chelonian loving freak to another I assume.
Feb. 26th, 2013 05:14 pm (UTC)
I second that hope!

Shuffling scenes? So I take it they added a scene to your episode that you didn't write? Hrm. Also, last minute shuffling of scenes doesn't seem like a good thing to me...
Feb. 26th, 2013 06:06 pm (UTC)
Re: Shuffling
Happens all the time on any serial drama. Less so with episodics.
Feb. 26th, 2013 08:17 pm (UTC)
Re: Shuffling
As George said, this happens a lot. I believe in his episode from Season 1 some scenes from other episodes (like Khal Drogo's big fight) were moved over in editing.
Feb. 26th, 2013 06:21 pm (UTC)
A bear there was. A bear, A BEAR!
Feb. 26th, 2013 06:23 pm (UTC)
I'm thinking it's something to do with Rains of Castamere. Shuffling scenes between episodes is less of a concern than there being a mere 10 episodes to convey SO MUCH!! They can NOT cut, the red weeding, the purple wedding OR the huge event at the Aerie or certainly they will end the season with the Epilogue scene! I get chills when I think of it. Each of those events evoke such raw emotion, they could not leave them out.. could they?
Feb. 26th, 2013 07:50 pm (UTC)
Don't worry. Those epic scenes will happen this season. RW specially. They know what they're doing. In these guys we trust.

It's going to be complex. There's some 1st book stuff in there too (We'll be introduced to Riverrun) and some 2nd book stuff (Introducing the Reeds) So I'm guessing the show is only MOSTLY the first half of ASoS. Everything else is all over the map.
Feb. 26th, 2013 08:08 pm (UTC)
They've split the third book into two seasons, so I don't think you have to worry too much about them having to squeeze everything into 10 episodes. :)

The best part about this? It gives them plenty of time to screw their heads back on in regards to bringing back Conan Stevens as The Mountain. His scheduling issue (the hobbit) will be quite done and over with by this fall, and by FAR the most important (and coolest) part of Ser Gregor's story will be one of season 4's most climactic moments.

Jen, I got your IM. Not sure why it doesn't show-up here, but anyway...I find it hard to grasp that seeing Theon in the upcoming season means they've combined some ADWD's content in ASoS HBO Season 3. I hadn't heard anything about ASoS being broken into season 2 and 3. But THAT would be better actually, because then it would prolong the sweetness of being able to immerse ourselves into as much of A Game of Thrones as possible as well as do justice to Ser George and the books!

There has been a Rains of Castamere episode already
Feb. 27th, 2013 01:30 am (UTC)
Ah yes, t'is true. There are of course a few alternate viable options. Since we know a song was gained, something to do with a Bear & a fair maiden perhaps. ;)

Steel and Snow
You guys realize that season 3 is only half of 'A Storm of Swords' right?
Feb. 26th, 2013 08:22 pm (UTC)
The first title of this episode was Autumn Rain if I remember correctly. The first song related to rain that comes to my mind is the Rains of Castamere. However, I don't really see what could happened in an episode with this title.

Re: Rain
You'd be very surprised, I would not google anything to do this season, but just think about the lyrics to the song.

Re: Rain
Don't worry, I've read the books. I'm not sure if you're talking about ''you know what'', but it has been confirmed that it was episode 9, not 7.

Aaah, the more I think about it, the more it has to be ''The Bear and the Maiden Fair''. It's even in relation with George's post about a certain ''son of Homer''.

I can see Jaime topping many peoples list of favorite characters this season. He's definitely in my top 5.

Yes ASoS is being cut into 2 seasons. And I don't understand why everyone is so confused about seeing Theon. In a dance of Dragons we learned what was happening to him through memorys, he didn't simply take a holidays to the summer isles and come back as Reek in ADwD. We are going to see how he became Reek (keep Alfie employed) and keep us on our toes. (how many do we have now?)
Feb. 27th, 2013 02:41 pm (UTC)
The same is happening with the title of Neil Gaiman's Doctor Who episode this season, which was "The Last Cyberman" but now he says he's thought of a better one. That's why I don't put reported episode titles on my calendar until the ones before them have been confirmed.

This news makes me more excited!

Djaime Unchained? =D
Feb. 27th, 2013 04:10 pm (UTC)
mmm... 'unchained'... stretching a bit but..
maybe not known Stateside,Jerome Flynn (Bronn) had massive UK no 1 hit,'Unchained Melody'.Good to see he has not lost his voice when Bronn sang in Lannister barracks. Jerome just finished a new success tv series here 'Ripper Street' set in London six months after Jack the Ripper murders stopped. But I cannot figure the irascible Bronn singing in series 3. Now, if Jerome had been cast as Mance, then his singing talent could have really shone![I still love his Bronn]!

The Bear and the Maiden Fair
It has to be that. I am listening to Dotrice while commuting, for the fourth time to make sure I remember all of Book 3....and just so happen to be at the part where Jamie and Brienne are at Harrenhall...and we all know where that ends up - the bear pit! And this happens before the second of the three weddings (since Sansa/Tyrion is the first, then RW and PW)....so episode 7 is about right.

Re: The Bear and the Maiden Fair
The more I thought about it I realized that Book 3 actually has four weddings - S/T, RW, PT and LF/Lysa. It is the wedding book in a weird sort of way. I think S/T and RW are in Season 3 and PW and LF/Lysa are in Season 4. Just my guess.

Also refers to Jorah (Bear) & Danny (Maiden Fair). Who'd be a 'wedding planner' in Westeros?*Giggles*

It's gotta be The Bear and the Maiden Fair. I know D+D have wanted to do the *other* song-titled episode since the series started.
