Website Revamp

Spain
By popular request... a complete redesign and revamp of my website debuted today.

Same content. New look. More bells, more whistles, more functionality (we hope).

There will be a few bumps as we ease through the transition, but we should have everything smoothed out and running well before too long.

Let us know your thoughts.

My first glance....
I don't know what I was expecting - I've been visiting your site for at least a year (time flies at my age...). My first thought was "WOW! This looks SLICK!" Very clean and somehow official looking. I haven't poked around too much yet, but wanted to give you my first impression!

Looks Great
I really like the new look!!! Really easy to navigate and not such an early 2000's look and feel...Keep up the good work!

Website Revamp
Hi George,

I was a bit worried about your revamp.
I follow your "Not a Blog" and came into "your site" via the blog and thought "What changes"?
Until of course I went to your main site.
Much better!
The old stlye was .. well a bit old really ;-)
Like the artwork images especially.

Enjoy,
Staeven from Melboure Aus.

Not going to lie: I think I am going to miss the old one. It gave me a little chuckle after all these years and made you seem so down-to-earth (which I am sure you still are, but all the same!). The new one looks lovely, of course.

I agree! And to add, I think this transition represents in a lot of ways your (George's) own transition from very popular fantasy writer to EXTREMELY popular man-responsible-for-that-awesome-HBO-series. But maybe I'm crazy. You're a personal hero of mine, Mr. Martin, and I'm glad I've known your works and your wisdom on both sides of this official transformation, if you will. (And the website looks great!)

With respect,

Very nice
I love the layout of Current News section on the front page. The page is quite easy to navigate while providing what seems like more information up-front. Lovely.

Cracked
Did that cracked article where you made the list of ridiculously out of date websites help convince you? I have been reading your stuff for 11 years and I don't think the website had changed much till today!

New website looks great!
I really like the new website. Easy to navigate. I don't feel like I'm missing anything the new website has to offer because it's concise, organized well, and easy to understand with it's design. It has an easy flow. Thanks for thinking of us fans and making the website fancy for us!!

I miss being able to visit 1999 by checking out your webpage.

But, seriously, it looks good.

I'm gonna be THAT guy and say that I really appreciated the 90s vintage look of your old website. The new website is great, but the previous format was oddly refreshing. Gotta keep up the times, I guess!

Great
Looks really nice. My only question - are the sample chapter(s) from Winds of Winter still located therein, like the old site?

Hmmm, I'm not sure about the new look, Sir Martin, it's a bit too (not-A)GoT-centric for me, as a person who has been reading (and loving) your stories since around 1976 or so. Good for marketing purposes related to GoT of course, but even though that's rightly been your main focus for umpty years now (books and show), I miss the sense of your whole body of work that I felt with the earlier design. I always hope that fans of GoT (show or books) will be interested in searching out your other work, and I'm not sure this design will do much for that in the future....

Then again, it looks lovely, for sure....

Excellent revamp of your site! Better as a branding of your name overall - truly was needed.

I couldn't find the link to the sample chapter of tWoW, except in the book news section that has the Theon chapter from last year. Wasn't it the Arianne chapter that was up before?

The new site looks great! I must say that I will miss the old one in a way, though... I've been visiting it for about half my life!

Nice!
Looks great! However, I'm so used to you're old site that this will take some getting used to. :)

So hell finally froze over, eh?
Love the new look and feel. Very slick! My only question is: what happened to the A Song of Ice and Fire sample page? Are you not going to post samples anymore?
