Season Three !!!

sword
Tonight's the night!

The wait is over.

Season Three is at hand.

Be sure to tune in. Even those of you who "don't have HBO." HBO is doing a big promotion this weekend, so it's free on many cable systems and satellite services right now.

I have seen episode one three times now, at various premieres, and I think it kicks ass. I hope you all agree. Season Three bids fair to be the strongest to date.

For those new to the Not A Blog, let me add my annual disclaimer. I hope you watch the show, and I hope you talk about, all the things you liked and hated... but not here. This is not the place for critiques, discussions, theories, whatever. There are dozens of other places on the internet better suited for that, so post your thoughts on Westeros, Tower of the Hand, Winter Is Coming, Television Without Pity, or any one of the myriad other sites that welcome such.

Time to buy the beer and order that pizza for the premiere.

Re: Excellent!
@ Lola @GRRM... Your comments gave me reasons to be excited for winter 2013/2014 when in Germany hopefully the 3rd Season will be onAir at TV ... Hopefully with a good translation English to German ;-) as the translators of the German Book-Edition made not the nicest job ;-) which I saw at 2nd half of the German Book-Editon. But now in the meantime till 3rd Season is due at German TV I'll try to finish the English Original Books to be able to compare with the German ones ;-)

I LOVED Sansa and Shae playing at the harbor, making up stories on the ships passing by just like your younger self did back in New Jersey when you had no where else to go but to travel the depths of the ocean of your imagination. I don't remember well, but I guess that's an added scene. If it is so it certainly celebrates you, sir, the way you deserves!

I'm sooo pleased with this episode, one of the best ever (may be THE best!)

I loved it!
.....Charles Dance might have made me angrily weepy tonight. >:-/

Also - before I watched the premiere, I stopped into a local establishment in downtown Salem, MA (where I live), which had the "Iron Throne" Blonde Ale on tap. How perfect! :)

The season premier was SO GOOD! I am so happy the GoT is back and that HBO is doing such a spectacular job with the story. :)

Love the show. Love the books.
I have an easy time separating the adaptation from the books. They are like two versions of the same story. Have you ever heard two different people tell the same story?

The details aren't always the same.

And so it is here.

3rd Season
Game of Thrones Beer???? Really????

I could hardly get through Easter dinner, etc, thinking about GOT season 3 starting tonight, but I managed. Whew! I finally just admitted my mind was in Westeros. lol

Congrats, George, I'm sure seeing your brainchild on the screen is huge. :)

I really don't have HBO. And considering I'm from Romania, I would have to wait a long time before being able to see new episodes anyway. I would gladly pay-per-episode, but somewhere I can be sure the money goes toward the production of the series. Can it be done?

iron throne beer
George absolutely love the books, people follow them like a religion down here in australia. watched s3 premier tonight along with millions of other fans but there was something missing, my iron throne beer! after a brief amount of internet research it has come to my attention that it isn't available in stores to us southern lords and ladies. for me there would be no greater satisfaction than sitting down and watching my favorite books on screen while drinking a official GoT brew! Please use your godly influences and make it happen! else i will have to settle for mulled wine(which isnt so bad anyway)

I wish I could tell you how much I loved the episode, the slower pacing, the excellent dialogue made me feel the characters as I remembered from the books...but alas I can't "not here", must abide by the disclaimer. ;)

Thank you as always!!
I love having you, the books and the TV Series!! Life is complete with it all! OH, and the opportunity to procure swords from Valyrian Steel too. I have my Needle with your signed certificate. Can't wait for the show versions (I missed the book versions) of Ice, Longclaw and the other new swords to come!
I must confess, I do wish HBO had agreed to do 13 (for the 13 of Qarth) or 14 (7 New Gods x 2 = 14) episodes instead of a mere 10. I anticipate my feelings of loss in another 9 episodes already. lol

George -- I really hope you were able to take the day off & celebrate with loved ones on the continued success of your creation! Get cozy in a chair, lift your feet up, have a beer -- and relax!

After celebrating easter with my family, I told them -- Aidos! I picked up some wine, lit the fireplace and settled in to watch my favorite story come to life. Game of Thrones time, baby!! The yearning for next Sunday has begun!

P.S It was a terrific episode, changes and all!

It was worth the wait - thank you for the 6 weeks spent absorbed reading Song of Ice and Fire back to back and the happy hours watching it come to life on television x

I deprived myself of sleep just to watch the season premiere... and I don't regret a second of it. Thanks once again for your amazing epic, and congratulations on the renewal for Season 4.

As expected, awesome start to season 3!

I was looking forward to the tense scene between Tyrion & Tywin, and it definitely didn't disappoint. Dance & Dinklage seem to have been born for their roles in this show!

Have you ever considered dropping by the Opie & Anthony Show on Sirius XM in NYC? The boys are really big fans of the show. You'd have a blast with them & it would be radio gold, I'm sure.

Season 4 - Congrats.
Just saw that HBO gave the go ahead for 10 more episodes. Since it took the suits almost 36 hours after the premiere to make up their minds, I wonder if Home Box Office is starting to question their investment...

Bring Khal back, pleaseeeeee!! We didn't even see him fighting and you described him as a character who was never defeated before. Such a shame that you took away any chance for us to see more from him. It's fantasy story anyway so you're allowed to create whatever you want so please bring him back.

I've never watched
Is Game of Thrones really that good? I've never watched it, but I sure hear a lot about it.

Re: I've never watched
Well, I am kind of prejudiced.

Judge for yourself.

You have a lot of catching up to do.

Great show!!
My siblings and I (rabid fans) don't have cable, so we will watch each week at our local bar where my sci-fi fantasy book club hosts screenings. They had a trivia contest and it was child's play, we won easily :)

I just have to say the first episode was GREAT! There were several times the 30+ people in attendance broke out in applause and were yelling with delight. Can't wait for Sundays!
