NFL Draft, Day 3

G-men
The Giants draft is looking very strong. No spectacular moves, but solid players who will make solid contributions. Grabbing Nassib in round four to back up Eli and groom as his successor was a great move.

The Jets draft... two defensive players in round one look okay, but considering how high they were taken, you had to hope for more. Neither one looks like a game-changer. And taking Geno Smith will set back the club years. Sanchez is likely to be released now, which means we are starting all over, and with a much iffier prospect than Mark was when he was first drafted,

I'm not sold that the Giants had a strong draft. I think for what they needed and what was available that it was competent.

As much as the Revis trade and the Geno Smith draft pick were confusing the other picks weren't glaringly horrible.

It looks like the Niners had a pretty good draft. That's not good. The Cowboys' draft gave me a chuckle. So even if we Giants and Jets fans/rooters didn't have much to wildly cheer about, we have that to be grateful for.

Yeah, I think you hit it on the head. Competent is a very good description. I still wish we'd taken Te'o at MLB since LB is a position that's always an Achilles' heel for the g-men. But I'm satisfied at what Reese was able to accomplish and look forward to a productive season. And don't forget, Cruuuuuz was a UDFA, so we're going to see some more talent come in for a look-see in the coming days. Things might get even better.
