NFL Draft, Day 3

The Giants draft is looking very strong. No spectacular moves, but solid players who will make solid contributions. Grabbing Nassib in round four to back up Eli and groom as his successor was a great move.

The Jets draft... two defensive players in round one look okay, but considering how high they were taken, you had to hope for more. Neither one looks like a game-changer. And taking Geno Smith will set back the club years. Sanchez is likely to be released now, which means we are starting all over, and with a much iffier prospect than Mark was when he was first drafted,

Re: Draft Analysis
The Giants were slashed repeatedly by the run last year. Hankins will give them a huge run-stopper in the middle, which is just what they need. He looks to be a Tony Siragusa/ Kris Jenkins type. The Giants draft was not glamorous, but they seem to have gotten good, soldi players.

Milliner may or may not be a stud, but he's got an impossible task: replacing Revis. If Revis comes back all the way, he is on his way to a Hall of Fame career, and will go down as one of the best CBs in NFL history, someone to rank with Dion Sanders and Darrell Green. Even if Milliner turns out to be a Pro Bowl player, that's a big step down.

seRe: Draft Analysis
Hard to argue with that. I've met Jim Carter a few times. Great guy, awesome player, never forgiven by the fans for beating out the aging Ray Nitchke (sp?) in Green Bay. Hopefully Jets fans will judge Milliner for what he is......but we know how likely that is. I cried with you when they parted ways with Revis. My pops lost a superbowl but gained a friendship with Namath so I've always kept one eye on those green guys to the East. My best advice to the Jets, convince those dirty Pats, that the guy in Curtis Martin's number and green uniform is really him, Ghost of Renly style! Thanks for the response.

Re: Draft Analysis
Good points. Stopping the run is a big part of the Vikings identity and used to be pretty important in the league....still is but not like before.
