We're Number One...

... in graphic novels.

The second volume of the GAME OF THRONES graphic novel debuted at #1 on the New York Times bestseller list:

(And, hey, the following week's list is out, and we're still number one).

My thanks and congratulations to Daniel Abraham (who wrote the script) and Tommy Patterson (who drew the pictures) and Mike S. Miller (who did the covers). They do all the real work on this one. This is their triumph, much more than mine.

I'm glad so many of you are enjoying the funny book.

Re: House Martell Casting
Great to hear your views on the casting as it has been discussed in great length on the fan websites.

As an actor myself who is obsessed with your books, there's barely a day goes by where I'm not envisaging being a part of the show. I made my own audition video and put it on YouTube, but whilst the fan response has been fantastic, it seems being proactive in this way is actually frowned upon a little in the industry. Which, frankly, sucks. And is counter-productive in my opinion to a thriving and open-minded casting system.

It's a horrible situation because actors know that if they're not represented by one of the top ten agents, they're unlikely to be called in for an audition (unless they're a child) and so in order to fight the system I created my own audition video... every single person who's watched it has been hugely encouraging (including certain members of the cast themselves who tweeted about it), but what use is that? There's absolutely no scope for an actor to be productive and creative because when they are, it's sneered upon, regardless of the actual quality of the product. (I didn't film so I can safely say my audition video is of great production value - I won't big up my own performance however).

I know it's similar in all creative industries but nonetheless it's frustrating when you've taken the proactivity levels to as far as they can possibly go without setting up camp in the casting director's office! :)
