Two More From Tor

passport
Tor.com is posting up these DANGEROUS WOMEN excerpts faster than I can blog about them.

Two news ones have gone up since I posted about the Jim Butcher tease.

Here's a taste of Russian cooking from Carrie Vaughn's "Raisa Stepanova" --

And here's a little tease from  Diana Rowland's "City Lazarus" --

Swell stories both, I avow.  Go ye and get teased.

More to come, including... yes.... "The Princess and the Queen."

Want this book, but...
Will there be a signed version of this book available? Like a limited, numbered edition or something?

There's no plans for that at present.

Wow. I get sent links to a lot of YouTube tribute videos. Some of them are funny, some are cool, some are... well-intentioned.

But this one was amazing. Beautiful stuff.

And following the links, I see she has other songs as well. Really liked her "Dornishman's Wife" as well.

Oh wow, I can't believe you haven't heard her stuff before - she's so talented!

I love the 'official' version of Rains of Castamere but Karliene's version is gorgeous. I used it in a tribute video for the Red Wedding which may fall into the Well Intentioned category, but I needed to do SOMETHING after all that trauma :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsPos-wEZD4

You've made Karliene's day (or whole week) with that praise.

Karlien's voice is hauntingly lovely - she has many followers and also writes her own songs, as well as doing great covers. Sending respectful regards from the UK

Hey George, you should also check out her rendition of The Rains of Castlemere. She really did so good on You win or you die that I could see all the characters perfectly. Really beautiful. :)

Hi George,
I was in total disbelief when someone on you tube mentioned your comment on my music but now I've seen for myself I just had to tell you how totally amazed and grateful I am. Being such a huge fan of your work I can't begin to tell you what it means to me that you have listened to mine, it's such an honor and something I'll be beaming about till the day i die. You are the number 1 reason I've fallen back in love with music and your songs from the books are so incredibly beautiful. I read them and instantly hear melodies in my head which never usually happens to me, they are always such a joy for me to record and I think I've nearly done all of them now on my channel. Anyway, that's enough of me gushing like a fan-girl. Never stop writing for you are such an inspiration and thank you so much.
Karliene.

To shamefully piggyback
Hey George, I've been a longtime fan and really enjoy your work, thank you. One thing I want to especially thank you for is that you've been so protective of what companies you allow to make products associated with your story. A lot of authors try to make a quick buck, which of course is their prerogative, but it kinda sullies the overall impression. Everything from the show to the swords and minis, etc has all been so well done though and it's just nice to see as a fan.

On the piggybacking note... Ryan Yunck did my favorite fan version of The Last of the Giants, I don't know if you've heard it. He allowed my wife to use it as background music for a Jon Snow painting she did :)

Re: To shamefully piggyback
I'll check out that song. Thanks.

As for my licensees... I try to do my best, but I'll be the first to admit that I've made some mistakes. Sometimes I've tried to give small, enthusiastic start-ups a shot, and that has not always worked out as well as I might have wished. (In some cases it has worked out very well indeed, however).

In any case, the point's now moot, since HBO now controls all subsidiary and merchandising rights not grandfathered in under an existing contract. So it's them calling the shots on these things now.
