The Princess and the Queen

enthroned
The final story in DANGEROUS WOMEN will be my own, a 30,000 word novella entitled "The Princess and the Queen," a history (somewhat abridged) of the Dance of the Dragons, as set down by a maester of the Citadel.

Tor.com has  uploaded a sample to their site.  You can find it here:

Enjoy.

(The full 80,000 word account of the Dance will eventually appear in a book, as yet untitled, that we're calling the GRRMarillion).

question about Rhaeger
Hi Mr. Martin, i have read all the books so far in the Ice and Fire series, but what bothers me is the fact that Rhaeger is described as having been a tormented soul, a good man, loving his music, not enjoying killing at all and a contemplative person. Yet he kidnaps the sister of Eddard Stark. It seems totally out of character with the personality as you describe it in your books and it makes no sense to me. That would be more like an action for Robert the wild impulsive whore-mongering hedonist.Am i missing an important clue as to why he kidnapped Lyana Stark and unleashed war on Westeros?
