Paperbacks Are Coming

tiger
Yes, it's true.  Your wait is over.  A DANCE WITH DRAGONS will finally be published in paperback, next month.

(Have you guys really been waiting?  Really truly?)

The paperback release has been delayed again and again, I know.  (Believe me, I've received a lot of emails about it).  This was done largely at the request of the bookstores.  The hardcover was still selling strongly (still is, actually), so they wanted the paperback delayed.

But no longer.  On October 29, Bantam Spectra will release DANCE simultaneously in trade and mass market paperback editions.

DWD5

And yes, the paperback will include a preview chapter from THE WINDS OF WINTER.  (Though at this point it has been so long that I've forgotten which one it is).

October, by the way, looks to be a huge month for me.  Besides the DANCE paperbacks, I also have OLD MARS coming out that month, and the MEATHOUSE MAN graphic novel, and a little Xmas book called THE WIT AND WISDOM OF TYRION LANNISTER.  But more about that one later.

For a second I thought this was an announcement of something else. My little heart fluttered. Must read headlines first. Must read headlines first.

So I take it the preview chapter is Selmy? Lol I hope it's not one you've read. Not that I haven't been keen to get a peak at those, but a character not involved in Meereen and who isn't Arianne or Theon would be nice to read about.

More Tyrion is always a good thing! And I do love paperbacks, but I'll always prefer hardcover. It just feels more like a book. But paperbacks you can put in your pocket, so!

Talking about The wit and wisdom of Tyrion Lannister like an afterthought :D
Can't wait to hear more about THIS book!! I've owned the Dragon paperback for at least a year now. Ordered all five books in a boxed set back then. But of course it's great that now everybody has the chance to get one :) The extra chapter a huge encouragement for buyers of course ;) I will have an argument with myself again I guess. Until now I could resist to read or get a summary of any released WOW chapter. Let's see how long I still can withstand...

BANTAM
Guys, the post says BANTAM. They haven't put out a book 5 paperback yet. George's other publishers (like Harper Voyager) may have but not Bantam Spectra, the NA publisher.

Mr. Martin is talking about the paperback editions for the continental US market. For US bookstores and online retailers. Here, in the US, ADwD will be available in various paperback editions (mass-market and trade) and new boxed sets with all five novels for the first time.

In international markets ADwD has been available in paperback for some time now. Especially, the UK editions which are also sold in continental Europe and all Commonwealth territories. Bantam, Martin`s US publisher has also published a mass-market edition, but only for export, which means other countries than the US, so there are paperbacks in Mexico and other places.

Ooooh. My first thought was "Wait, what? I've had the paperback edition for about a year now." Thanks for clearing that up.

I already own A Dance with Dragons both in paperback and hardcover. I bought the paperback edition more than 4 months ago, it was part of a boxed set that contained all five books. The publisher is Bantam Books, and there is no sample chapter of the Winds of Winter. There is no particular point to my post, I just found it strange!

Happy Wild Cards Day!
Happy Wild Cards Day to my fellow Aces, the original 1%! To Jetboy, Father of us all!

In honor of this day, how about a Wild Cards update? There hasn't been one since June. How about some news on the movie? It has been almost two years. Is one still planned, or are they too busy with classics such as Sharknado?

Not everyone was willing to wait on a paperback forever. My ADWD hardcover went through some of my friends' hands three times. I hope they trouble to buy the paperback.

Thank you for the perk up.
When I read "Wit and Wisdom of Tyrion Lannister" and "Xmas book" in the same sentance, the first thing that popped into my head was "Lannister Family Christmas". The mere thought of that gave me a good laugh. I'm having a crap day so thanks!

Why do I feel like Bishop in Aliens, playing five finger filet on the bill paxton game-over Dude? Sensory overload, ser, so much great stuff coming out.... like, x 6! if only the Syfy Wild Cards deal would fall through and HBO could pick that baby up and make it as stellar as your and the other WC authors' baby deserves.

I really have been waiting
I have a hardcover copy, but I don't want to get it worn out. That's what the paperback version is for. Haha.

I think I would sacrifice a goat under the full moon to make that a Sansa chapter?
How do you feel about goat sacrifice

I borrowed the hardcover from a friend to read it but I've been waiting on the softcover release before buying my own so it will match the first 4. :)

p.s. "and a little Xmas book called THE WIT AND WISDOM OF TYRION LANNISTER" made my day!! That sounds like an awesome holiday gift to myself. :)

I do Google Books, that's how I read DANCE. Sometimes I use the Amazon Kindle app if Google Books doesn't have the title I'm looking for. Sometimes I do audiobook form.

I can't imagine ever wanting to go back to paper.

Just so you know. I am going to buy your book. I really liked the show on HBO but can't wait for the next season.
