Manning Bowl 3

Life is meaningless and full of pain.

And interceptions.

Now I don't hate the Giants
the way I do the Yankees, but it's actually a bit gratifying to see the Jets at 1-1 and our so called "Big Brothers" reeling at a very lopsided 0-2. Am I bitter, contemptible, and petty? Probably. But this is coming from a Jet fan who has sat in bars and at family bbq's and listened to prolonged speeches about the eternal superiority of the Giants over the Jets throughout all of football history. Their recent Super Bowl victories over the Pats only added fuel to those fires.

The animosity that I have as a Met fan for the Yankees is much more pronounced, considering that there's a much longer track record of acrimony there (I come from a line of Brooklyn Dodgers fans), and the Yankees along with their unholy legions of front-running disciples are easily hateable. Plus the Mets and Yanks play every year unlike the Jets and Giants and there's always the recent sting of that 2000 World Series... but I digress.

I've noticed over the years that the Giants are a very likeable team. They have a classy organization and they win with big plays and a fierce pass rush. That's a mix that is very easy to root for. But I'm a Jet fan, always will be. And with that fandom comes a caustic blend of confidence, heartbreak, and utter insanity. And then there's always the prolonged misery of the past few years.

But like I said, I don't hate the Giants, but goddammit if I don't feel a pang of satisfaction with the way things are going right now...
