Down Under

Kikcing around Down Under.  Supanova Brisbane, Sydney Opera House, Melbourne Wheeler Center, Supanova Adelaide have all passed in a blur of signatures, smiles, panels, signatures, readings, questions and answers, signatures. Now we are back in Melbourne for a couple of days before we take off for New Zealand.

My only regret: I did not have the presence of mind to belt out the theme song to HAVE GUN, WILL TRAVEL in Sydney.  That would have allowed me to say that I'd sung at the Sydney Opera House.

I  understand the Giants have won every game since I've been away.  Maybe I should leave the country more often,

Glad you enjoyed Australia, George! Did you see any of the local wildlife? I watched your interview with Michelle and Lena earlier tonight. A good laugh :)

Down Under
Dear G.R.R. Martin I hope that you are enjoying being in Australia and the bright sunny day is not causing a sunburn. Seriously, what other country has to deal with our unique brand of endless dry heat? It's actually only the third sunny day since Winter ended (yes I keep track). Perhaps Australia is sending a message for you to not kill off any more Starks or Snows related to the Starks! If you are currently in Melbourne, have you considered taking a quick road trip to Ballarat (an hour and a bit away and my home town.) I am unsure if you have ever visited but our city is steeped in heritage and pre 1880s architecture. as well as being the site of the Eureka Rebellion. Sovereign Hill is a very amusing theme-park about the Gold Rush and panning for gold is always fun. The Ballarat Wildlife Park is always worth a visit as well. Enjoy the rest of you holiday and New Zealand.

Thankyou very much for visiting George, your fans downunder really do appreciate it! Thankyou for the signings! The Giants D has never been better, perhaps a sign to move to Australia? Travel safe.

Glad you're having a good trip, unfortunately I missed you at the Wheeler Centre talk because I prevaricated about getting a ticket and then they sold out, my bad.

Thanks George
It was so awesome to see you on Saturday in Adelaide & have you sign my AGoT boardgame, art book & A Dance with Dragons. A bit of a pity you didn't get the time to finish your reading, but it was still great & much appreciated.

I hope you get the chance to relax a bit in New Zealand after what's obviously been a very busy time in Australia.

Thanks for coming! And for signing my book at Brisbane Supanova! :D

The Giants are at home this Sunday against the Cowboys--if they win this game, they are legitimate contenders to win the NFC East. It doesn't mean they would do anything in the playoffs if they actually made it, but it would be an amazing story to what every Giants fan surely thought was a lost season.

Haha, a friend pointed me in to this post - I saw you walking past on southbank last night. Hope you've enjoyed your time in Melbourne!

Yes, the Giants are winning and its time to come home and sit yourself in front of NFL Sunday Ticket. I always say when I am on business travel that the best day of travel is the last day of travel. Safe trip home.

Sydney Opera House Q & A
Sydney Opera House Q & A was fantastic. It was a great reminder of why I love these characters.

Opera House event
When you signed my book at the Opera House you asked if I was a fan of Tyrion, I said I was until he killed Tywin and you were surprised because you don't get many fans of Tywin. Instead of giving my proper answer of describing him as Machiavellian and admitting my love for The Prince, I squeaked "Tyrion is so cute" and giggled like a maniac. Please come back to Australia soon so I can redeem myself - I'd hate you to go to go on for the rest of your life thinking I'm a floozy (because naturally I made an impression and no doubt you remember this happening;))
