DROGON

Gotta love them dragons.

I have long maintained that Vermithrax Perjorative was the coolest dragon ever put on film... but Peter Jackson's version of Smaug, from the second HOBBIT film, may have stolen his laurels.

And I gotta say, our own baby Drogon is growing up fast.

I'd agree... except DRACO. Draco Draco Draco. Nicest dragon ever. If the Cocteau ever does a dragon event, I sure hope Dragonheart will be on the list, because intelligent, friendly dragons need more recognition. Doesn't hurt when they're voiced by Sean Connery, either.

(Also, fun fact: you'll recognize a handful of the Dragonheart cast from the Harry Potter saga. Also, in Dragonheart, Jason Isaacs, a.k.a. Lucius Malfoy, plays a character called Felton; in Harry Potter his son is played by Tom Felton, and his name is... Draco.)

+1

Draco is the most friendly and charming dragon of media culture, IMHO =)

Yes, but dragons are not meant to be friendly or charming.

Baby-dragons in GoT were very charming.

I heartily agree with that statement! Dragons arent meant to be nice, and vampires arent meant to sparkle... theyr'e both apex predators. And I still think Vernithrax is the best Dragon, but Smaug is a very close second. Im looking forward to seeing the "three wee ones" when they grow up!

I hope you forgot to put your 'joking' pic for this statement.

As if dragons were real: can you paint all dragons with the same brush, like people that say all pitbulls are violent? Surely an animal with intelligence and the ability to communicate with another species, such as the case for Draco, would be able to befriend?

Now with dragons as fictional: I am actually surprised as you seem involved with other writers. Would Dragon behaviour not be down to the writer and not because that was the way it was always done? JMS once said that someone had told him communication devices on hands (Babylon 5)was silly as everyone knows communication devices in the future would be worn on the shirt (Star Trek). Yes, a writer has to have a good reason for breaking with convention from something that has been 'well established', but as long as they can justify the difference then they are ok with me. I would also prefer an author that can challenge convention than one that feels they must abide by it.

Draco is my favorite too. Also the good dragons from Skyrim--Parthurnax, Odaviing. Haven't seen Smaug or Vermithrax Perjorative, but I've always loved anything with dragons.

Oh, a thousand times yes on Paarthurnax, that sweet old thing.

As far as meanies go, though, Smaug is indeed glorious. :)
